Re: 44T Old/Mid School BMX Club of Chicago

We are devastated to share this news with you. “THE SHOW MUST GO ON “ is in our DNA, and this is the first time in 20 years that the Midwest Oldschool Bmx show will not take place this February. Due to covid restrictions the fairgrounds is not holding events at this time . To host a show of this size it takes months of planning and can’t be put together at a moment’s notice. We are exploring options to reschedule the event . We will post any new information as we receive it. Stay safe out there ! Ed

Perfectly understandable, Ed.  Thanks for letting us know.  Expect to hear from me.  I'd like to bounce some ideas off you.

BTW, happy New Year, everyone.

If it gets any bigger Ed might have to make it a 2 day show and move it to the McCormick place.

THIS!
I'm totally down for an outdoor event. Relaxed atmosphere, no fee's to set up a table etc.  I know Ed put's in a ton of work for his show, but there's enough stress in the world right now.  The most important thing is the gathering itself.  I thought about organizing a replacement show of sorts, but I'm up here in MI and the location here isn't nearly as "centrally located" as it is down there.  We wouldn't get people coming from states in every direction up here.
Big Marsh Park sounds awesome!

Remember....if everyone came to a bike show without a bike, it would just be a bunch of dudes standing around in a park...and that's just creepy!  If you've got one, bring one.  -Me

Yeah outside would be great. Open air would make people feel more comfortable and space would most likely be less of an issue.

The Jasper county fairgrounds might have their buildings available and it’s right off 65 not far from the crown point location

Re: 44T Old/Mid School BMX Club of Chicago

Listen as some of you are aware one of our locals kinda screwing over a museum member on a bike. https://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=844375

I am giving Tim the benefit of the doubt and am assuming he is incapacitated. But our member down in florida is broke and can’t replace the bike he bought that Tim has. I am hoping someone would be willing to donate a 24” race frame and fork to him and I would pay for shipping to his house. I was hoping to keep this in the Pms and suprise the member with this and I think k he still might be suprised because I doubt he would be going in this thread, but I pmd several people and the best I could do is a 24” dirt jumping Haro f/f. The member is more than awesome to offer it up but I am hoping to find an aluminum race, something similar to what he lost. Would anyone be willing to help out on this, keep it in this thread and pms I am trying to keep him from knowing till stuff starts showing up to his house. I have brakes, a seat post, clamp, and seat I can donate. Let me know please.

Re: 44T Old/Mid School BMX Club of Chicago

I'm gonna put my crabby pants on for a moment by reminding you guys that ideas about where and the show could/should be held should be shared directly with Ed.  I know folks mean well and all, but I will tell you from experience that it sucks when people "plan" my events -- namely, XTC.  In my case, it adds to what is already a considerable amount of anxiety when I'm planning XTC.  I imagine that Ed's anxiety level regarding the show may very well be at least 5 times what I feel about an event that has way fewer moving parts than his.  Again, try sharing your ideas with him directly, and let him know that you not only have good ideas, but are also willing and able to help see them through.  I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
