1987 Raleigh Ultra Shock
1987 Raleigh Ultra Shock
Extremely rare survivor in top condition.
If you know anything about the '87-'88 Raleigh Shock series of freestyle bikes, then you know how hard they are to find in ANY condition. I bought this bike on eBay from a consignment store. These photos do the bike no justice. It is mind-boggling how this bike could have survived so well. I'm not entirely sure about the tires, but everything else appears to be original with no sign of ever being ridden. The paint and decals are in near perfect shape without the typical stress cracks that you normally see on these models. Still has the original dealer sticker from Brooklyn Bicycle Center on the seat tube.

Re: 1987 Raleigh Ultra Shock
It looks like its never been ridden, but i rode that bike almost everyday. I tried to get it back after I sold it because i regretted it very much. I sold it to a guy, who sold it to an owner of a Sporting Goods store here in MN. Told me he would hold it for me for just 3 days until I got paid. Got greedy and put it up on eBay for 400 somethin. I sold it to the original guy who bought it from for $100. If you ever decide to part with it, PLEASE PM me. He put those tires on it. I had Porkchop white with tan walls on it when I had it. That bike has a lot of careful miles on her.

Re: 1987 Raleigh Ultra Shock
Wow...thanks for the info, RR!! Very sorry to hear that this was yours but you let it slip away. I've been searching for the blue version of this bike for a long time, but when I saw this pink one in such pristine shape, I just couldn't pass it up. If I ever get lucky and find the blue one, I may consider selling/trading this one with you. Until then, I'll be sure to keep it locked up safely indoors! It's definitely too perfect to be ridden. Kudos on keeping it so well maintained!!!

Re: 1987 Raleigh Ultra Shock
SAW THE FRAME AND FORK FOR THIS BIKE ON EBAY, LOOKED QUITE ROUGH WITH ALOT OF WORN/ MISSING PAINT. THIS ONE IS A PERFECT SPECIMEN, MUST HAVE BEEN UNASSEMBLED IN BOX OR GARAGED MOST OF ITS LIFE, TO STAY IN MINT CONDITION LIKE THIS.

That's exactly what I thought when I first bought this beauty! But according to the previous owner ("RaleighRider"...see his comments above) he actually rode this bike and took exceptional care of it. Props to him for preserving this rare bike! I also bought a blue 1987 Raleigh Shock that is very similar to this bike, but the condition is nowhere near this nice. I still need to clean it up and post it here....stay tuned!

Thanks dude! These Raleighs are kinda rare but they do turn up from time to time on here and eBay. If I had the funds, I would probably buy every one I came across!

OE mags. The only wheels that look right on an Ultra Shock.
It's like the man says, there's no problems...only solutions.
