Try a set of Ace trucks if you like to turn. Much lighter than Indys.
I keep buying and selling, so I guess I wasn't happy with the four I had left.

Re: *Official old school skateboard thread*
Awesome pics.
Ever been to "Skatopia"? My band played there last year, and they have a skateboard museum that is un believable. Every deck I ever heard of, hundreds hanging on the walls. Cool place.

I had a chance to go; but like my vehicle too much. That and my former friend who owns the skateshop and I had a falling out.

Is that Bruce?
Skatopia is near Athens OH.
Cool place. MCRAD played, Murphy's Law, Fishbone... There were dudes with hooks through the skin on their backs swinging over the bowl inside the barn, while people skated under them. About 100 bands played. Crazy shit.

Sorry, I had a falling out with my local shop owner, not Bruce. Bruce would have beat me to a pulp.

I guess. Dude seems like he's made of old tree roots... Not to mention the crazy ass Manson Family-esque posse he's got out there.

Re: *Official old school skateboard thread*
I am so Happy .. You know when you try hunt down an old bmx bike you use to have BITD,,Just did it with a board.. Well I had a Sims Staab Mini in 1986 I was 12 years old.. My mother took me to the local skate shop and let me pick it out .. A few months later it was stolen at the arcade at the bowling alley.. I was so upset couldnt sleep for days..Also my Mom was pissed and I had to save for the next board....
Last night on Craigslist I was scanning around and noticed this " I couldnt believe it the same board I had in '86 .. not literly the same one..but exactly how I had it ..Gullwing Trucks ..Cross bones 90A.. The guy was asking $100 .. I was like dam..I want it ..So i called him ..he lived an Hour away but met me half way.. Also he said he wanted an old school scooter ..So I had a Dyno scooter I picked up for $5 at a yard sale.. So in the end I paid $60 and gave him a scooter.. This brings back some cool memeories!!
I am Happy [img][/img]

Also happy with the condition!!

Re: *Official old school skateboard thread*
Thanks guy's.. I was so freaking happy last night on my ride home from picking the Staab up.. It just makes it so much special when you use to have one as a young lad I will never forget when I got one in 86 .. I was king shit of the neighborhood
Everyone else had Executiners and Nash's.. Then it got stolen .. Now I feel like its 1986 all over again ..I just waited 25 years to get one back

Ben, that's what it's all about right there! Anything we can do to get that feeling again. I'm fearing another collection problem growing inside of me. I'm fighting it...but this thread isn't helping at all. I love this stuff.

I agree Charlie .. That is a really cool feeling !! Like im 12 all over again! Yea it is tough not to start collecting these now..I think I started .. 1 month ago I didnt have any OS Boards now I found 3 and I was'nt even really looking for them .. I have to be careful ..before I know it this will be another obsession and I will have 50 of them
At least collecting these you can fit alot of them in a small space unlike my bike collection all jammed up in my rental 1 bedroom!!
Now its time to get out there and try to skate again without killing myself!! Love the pics you have posted Charlie!!

Cool thread...keep those old photos coming, guys! I don't have a single photo of me skating BITD. I used to ride that damn thing EVERYWHERE! I go back a little further when boards looked like this:
Wanted: one copy of the last issue of BMX plus magazine!
Escaped from Detroit...and lived to tell about it!

Re: *Official old school skateboard thread*
Man, as much skating as I did in the mid- to late-80s (I had to do something, and BMX was too damn expensive!), I don't have picture to the first. Straight street skater from the pre-kickflip days, so I was big on ollies, board slides, and launch ramps. I was a Vision guy, rode Gullwings and Vision Blur 90As, and had all these models, plus one non-Vision:
- Mark Gonzales (1st edition, and I still have it!)
- Psycho Stik
- Old Ghost Street Ghost
- Johnee Kopp
- Ken Park
- Aggressor
- Aggressor 2 (showed a little more of the prostitute than the first one; still have in the exact condition I last
rode her in -- cracked in half! )
- Gator (2nd edition "rainbow")
- Agent Orange (2nd edition, DAMN I should have kept it!)
- JFA Paisley (DAMN I should have kept it! )
It seems that I'm missing a couple. The Gonz (deck only) is actually in pretty good condition. On some other post a while back, I mentioned that the Gonz and Aggressor 2 are up in the rafters of my garage, and that I'll eventually get up the gumption to bring them down and take some pictures. I also remember having a 1987 edition of BMX Plus that featured an article called "Who's Radder 2: BMXers Vs. Skaters". That mag is looooong gone, but would be interesting to look at today.

Still searching for my missing bikes from BITD. 1979 Blue Max serial: CI9 221346 and 1977 Webco serial: 42667. Both were last seen at Spoke and Sport Bicycles in Spokane, WA around 1984. $600 reward if found!!

Re: *Official old school skateboard thread*
Dang, Scrappy, I don't remember that board at all. Must have been before my time.
My first Pro set up was an Hosoi hammer head (with Christian doing a japan air in front of the Japan flag), Thunder trucks (with the dagger and lizard on the base plate, Vision swirl Blurs. Of course it had clear grip with skate sticker underneath. I later traded the board for some Mike Buff Z-rims as I realized I sucked at skateboarding and got back into BMX.

Not quite the same, but close enough.
