I had one of these many years ago - It's S/N was T2J0037, I brought it in Carnarvon Australia, would love to find it again.

Very nice early Laserlite.
Is the bottom bracket stamped "TANGE JAPAN"?
Many Thanks :)

Re: 1982 Kuwahara Laserlite KZ-83

So you built this up from just the frame and fork?  Just wondering if the component list you went with was "factory correct"?  The reason I ask because I just scored one of these myself but with one piece cranks and was thinking of changing the cranks to 3 piece but wanted to buy the correct ones.  Awesome bike by the way!

No, I was talking about the one I scored about a month and a half ago.  It's identical to this one but mine has one piece cranks.  I guess I should do a little research and figure it out for myself to 100% sure I buy the right ones.  I talked to that guy in Edmonton who has that frame and fork (its a KYZ I believe?)  but I think he wants more than I can offer right now.

Re: 1982 Kuwahara Laserlite KZ-83

hi jason,

thank you for the compliments. yes right from the frame and fork but I more interested in the way Clint Miller built his racing bike. due to that, I installed the rim 28 holes as you can see on this forum http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php … c=122856.0

and I need to list my personal satisfaction

-Redline 401 flight Crank or sugino 400
-DC tech 3 brake lever prefer in black
-suntour xc1 pedals
-OGK Cobra grips (tq sabel)

try this link for "correct factory";

Re: 1982 Kuwahara Laserlite KZ-83

hi ampkcoo,

although already many years, you're still considering s / n bike, you certainly have a very good memory.

it is nice to find a bike that was released back in the same factory with mine. Is S / N is built and comes from canada?

Re: 1982 Kuwahara Laserlite KZ-83

bvdd, Yes so, I was very surprised to see your serial number and location. As a kid I had to work very hard for that bike, it cost a fortune back then $1078 and was my pride and joy. I did modify it for racing - 1 piece crank, graphite peddles, pro bars, uni seat, sealed Hutch hubs on 13/8 rims and  dx brakes.
