1985 Raider RX 450 Competition

**SOLD** My Holy Grail and a 100% complete survivor

After nearly 15 years of searching I have finally found my first bike . Nothing too special in the big scheme of BMX, but the sentimental value makes it invaluable to me.

A little background…

Back in 1985 or 1986 my Grandpa gave me my first 2 wheel bike, one which I rode until about 1991 or so before selling it to a class mate for $15.00 (ugh)! Anyway, in 1997 I decided that I wanted to try to find that bike again.

All I knew was that the company was Raider. My search was limited to garage sales, flea markets, pawnshops etc. and was unsuccessful. I gave up on it  in about 2000. When I stumbled upon the BMX Museum a couple of years ago I decided to pick up my search. The only info that I had to go on was the brand and the fact that the bike was chrome with blue decals and components. I did not know the model or the specs for any of the components.  I was able to find one similar in the Museum, a  Raider Stomper, similar but not quite.
In April of 2011, I see a local ad for a bike. The picture quality was poor, but I was able to make out "Raider" on the decal. I phoned him up, met him, got his price down to $80.00 and took home my baby. Looking at it a bit closer, this Raider is on an Akisu Looptail Pro frame.
This is not exactly the bike that I had as it is chrome with yellow/gold and it is a looptail. Close enough for me.

You sold your grail?

See i don't want to hear from people that tell me success is easy, i want to hear from the people who fought it out, who went all twelve rounds with life and got to the other side.

Not a loop tail guy . But man the back drop outs look really nice on this bike .  I like it.

1985 . And I quote owner of Pondersoa Schwinn spring Texas. "Get out of my bike shop!"
