Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

Sorry, if you're tired of seeing this because you already saw it in some of the other sections.  I'm usually pretty determined about my ideas and don't do this, but I've got a handful of questions and would like some input.

Criteria:
-Must use the below frame and fork. lol  It is an anodized (not powdered) blue '95/96 Floval Flyer.
-The handlebars are definitely gone.
-For starters I will use the shown wheels (all silver).  Alex rims, with "Formula" (presumably lowend) hubs.  But give your advice assuming they will be replaced one day.
-It's teal in color.  So normal dark blue anodized parts don't go with it.  So...the only blue part will be the frame.
-Because it's midschool, I feel no obligation to use old/vintage parts (not even 15 years old).  I'm happy with brand new "retro" parts.  I prefer to stick with OS brands I know.

http://i967.photobucket.com/albums/ae154/troynlori/Floval%20Flyer/DSCN5310.jpg

Question 1: Color Scheme:
I'm considering either all black & chrome parts......or the addition of red annodized parts & chrome.  Red anno looks real good against the teal blue (and so does gold for that matter).  Which scheme?  Or another?  And if I use red...should it just be red ano, or how about things like the grips, seat, tires (yes I have no taste lol).

Question 2: Stem
Narrowed down to retro Ruf Neck, DK polished square, Bullseye, and ESP.  Actually I narrowed it down to a red Bullseye, or a ESP 13 (or the 13 232g - but my boy says 13).  Which one? (red Bullseye, ESP 13, or ESP 13 232g).

Questions 3-20:
Seat?  Post?  Pedals?  Tires?  Brake lever?  Chainwheel?  I've somewhat narrowed it down to new chrome 3 piece Redline Flights and new "retro" Powerwing cruiser bars.

Any input really appreciated, but don't be offended if I don't use it.  lol

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

DK polished retro stem with some low rise SE cruiser bars in chrome would be nice but a new ESP would like nice too. Accent with some other polished parts and chrome flights and you're done. A white SE retro saddle would be cool on there too. You can't really go wrong with some gold and that blue colour either.

I think he meant beause the blue is an ano finish it looks almost teal in colour. I had a Rikcenbacker bass in that colour.

Nice frame.

You can't go wrong with all chrome or silver parts.

A little black wouldn't hurt either. cool

I agree, the bike does not look teal to me either.

+1.  I'm not touching that frame except to clean it.  Maybe I should call it electric blue?  It's not regular ano blue.

My Ric bass was an electric blue. Either way, its a very nice colour and it looks great.

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

Annodized red parts, and some chrome in there would give it a kinda red white and blue theme. cool But my gut is telling me black and chrome is the way to go. Keep it simple and tasteful.

No offense, but how old are you, six?

Build it the way you want.

If you don't like it, change it.

It's not brain surgery.

I'll never understand asking others about color schemes on your own bike...

I think he's just trying to get ideas i think, not get approval.

Yes, I am 6.  It's going to make riding this big frame challenging, but I think I can pull it off.

Glad I didn't ask what I was almost going to ask, which was "Do these red parts make my butt look big?"

So anyhow, all that said.....if it was your own bike.....what color scheme would you go with?  lol

No, seriously, I understand your point.

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

I really didn't mean to be harsh.

Thanks for taking what I wrote with a sense of humor. smile

I like non-traditional color schemes.

I would stick with the annodized theme.

I think gold and chrome would kick the most ass, but white with some black accents would be sweet, too.

Thinking out of the box, orange or purple parts would be interesting...

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

i'd go with annodized gold and a splash of black.

black = tires, seat, grips, and pedals.

gold = everything else.

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

the thought of red with that makes me a little nauseous.  but thats just me.  if it were mine, i'd go chrome.  i think that anno would look great with shiny all around it.

but, hey man, its your bike, do with it what makes you happy.

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

I like the idea of red or gold bits......Not too much though.
The bars should match the forks or vice-versa....Chrome would go better w/ your wheels.
Here's a blue I did recently,It's no show piece but maybe a good reference?

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

Here is brown and yellow, with a little bit of red on the chainring bolts, chain tensioners, and a section of the cable. One thing I do not like is using gold anodized parts with yellow parts. However, red and blue anodized parts seem to go with red and blue painted parts just fine. KMC chains have more of  a sparkle to them (kind of like ano), if you are thinking of doing a colored chain.

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

Oh yeah, these cables go well with the anodized colors. Ignore the brake pads, those were just for color reference. PM me if you need some.

Re: Design Input Please (Floval Flyer)

dk or esp retro stem. keep is simple all polished and chrome simple bikes look better. there is a matter of good taste that is often thrown out the door when colors start getting added. try to use era correct it just looks better. black gumwall tires, black grips, brake cable and black seat.
