Re: Funny sh!t my wife says...

I always hear this from my dad too," why cant you just go get a Mongoose from Walmart?"  and "Why did you spend that much money on a bike that old?"  Here's a pic of the bike that he has. (It explains everything) lol

Re: Funny sh!t my wife says...

When I was drooling at $300 KOS bars for sale:

Wife: "More bike parts?"
Me: "Yes, some handlebars I could use."
Wife: "How much are they?"
Me: After a short pause... "uummm $300"
Wife: "If you really want it... I will buy it for you."
Me: CLICK.   <--- That was me hitting the "Buy Now" button

She's come a long way! smile

Re: Funny sh!t my wife says...

my fiancee, while standing there counting the bikes and frames in the garage, after we just discussed how much I spent building my Bronco (way too much by my admittance)

"you always jump from one hobby to the next, theres too many bikes in here how much did you spend on them last year?"

I then had to calmly explain to her that of the 4 completes, 2 were her daughters....only one of which I was responsible for, and that every bike I bought last year with the exception of the few I have now were sold for small profits to offset the restoration of my old racer. Without her spending too much argument she just gave up and went inside.

Re: Funny sh!t my wife says...

After 20 years, the wife doesn't say anything to me except "Where are we going to put it?"
But...she loves telling everyone about the house and credits it all to me:
"Our house has bikes, surfboards, and musical instruments everywhere. You never know what else will be in the house."

Now my wife is just wondering what I'm going to do because she has seen me looking at old VWs lately. That was my thing before we got married.

Are you married to her?  If not, maybe you should be.  She sounds like a keeper.  Now, if you can get her to come off a @500 for some nos CompII's, and her not complain that your bike tires cost more than car tires, you KNOW she is a keeper!

When I first got back into bmx it was:

"You need to set up your own ebay account" - after I had her start bidding on and buying items on ebay for my Hutch Pro Raider build
"I thought you were just going to finish your Hutch" - after I bought a set of Bullseye hubs and pedals on ebay for my Pro Racer build
"Are you on that dumb bike website again?"- as I'm on the Museum website.
"I don't care what color you get the bike painted"- as I'm asking her opinion about my Pro Racer build.

About 5 months later after some craigslist scores, some finish builds, and some selling of bikes/parts, it became:

"When you get finished looking at the bmx website, I would like to talk you." - actually not thinking it is just a dumb website
"I can't believe that is the same bike, you did a great job on it."-when I finished the Pro Racer build.
"I thought WE decided on a different blue.  That blue is too bright"- after I got my son's Haro mini frame/forks powdered.
"His bike looks really good, I like all the black parts on it.  I was wrong about the blue.  He is going to love it." after I finished putting my son's bike together for Christmas AND admitting she was wrong.
"No you can't sell my bike (powerlite FS2), you bought that for me so we can all ride together"

Now, it is:

"Would it be ok to move your bikes upstairs? My parents are coming next weekend"- actually ASKING me to move my bikes out of the spare bedroom instead of either just doing it or trying to tell me to do it.
"Sure, I can take those parts to the post office"- her becoming part of the solution
"Has anybody bought the Redline frame yet?" -actually remembering what I was currently selling
"You have a lot of money in Paypal.  Can you put some of it into the bank account?"-Finally, the root of her bmx acceptance.

I'm actually pretty lucky that she is now cool it all.  It just took her some time to get used to it.  She actually just read what I typed, laughed, and walked away.

That's Awesome!  lol
