1984 GT Pro Restoration.... Thought I would share my build with you :)

Well I have built a lot of bikes in my 2 years as a member here and never really gave it much thought to share a build and all the steps I go through but on the last buildoff I was kinda inspired to do so after seeing what Wired did with his and thought it would be kinda cool to share. I'm not putting light's in the handle bars or anything but restoring used and NOS parts to fit the image I have for my new show build. Pretty much going by the book on this one as far as parts used when it was on the LBS's showroom floor but with a few variations that hope you will like. Well here is the pics of what I have gathered for the buid so far. I plan on showing before and after pics of all the parts so stay tuned this should be a good one.

Yep, bring it.  Your stuff always looks great!

By the way....what are you planning to run on back with 43 tooth up front?

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

Just standard 16 tooth freewheel out back. I like to keep it between 43-45 to 16

Got a couple goodies in the mail today..............
Spokes & nipples form Justin, still not sure about the accent color yet but if I go with black I'm set.

http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu32/calismoooth/DSC08635.jpg

Took the wheels apart last night and polished the hubs a bit. I was hoping to leave them with the og chrome but it is starting to flake off like all the rest of the GT hubs I have seen. Well strip, polish & anodize it is then.

Got 1 of the last parts to complete the puzzle today.... Dia Comp MX900
http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu32/calismoooth/DSC08665.jpg

Now that all the parts have been collected except for the seat & grips {still debating on color} I can start dropping stuff off at the polisher. Took the stem hardware & seat post down last week for chrome, should be done Friday so a update will be due.
