Re: 2011 S&M W.T.F.

How does it ride compared to your Randy Brown?  Ive considered getting one of these but Im not sure about its 11.4" BB height.
Because the head tube has been shortened I understand the need for a top load stem and taller bars to compensate on the front end.  The stand over is 8.15" LTF sort of height, and the axles are obviously in the same place, so why lower the BB so much?  Is that to compensate for the 75.5 degree head angle?
Can you feel any difference with the .5 degree steeper?

Re: 2011 S&M W.T.F.

^^ I wondered the same thing about the shortened stature and the feel.
They are killer though. I've never really wanted an s&m, until now!
are profile hubs the only ones that will fit? The only screw in hubs/axles I have had were on the 98-99 blammos with heffer 3's.

Re: 2011 S&M W.T.F.

There are a lot of female front hubs now.  Profile, G-Sport, Proper, eclat.
For the rear G-Sport is the only true 14mm but you can use any other 10mm female with adapters.

Re: 2011 S&M W.T.F.

^^ is correct.  Isn't Tree's cassette hub also a true 14mm?  I'm not sure if a female hub like Eclat's Pulse would fit since the 14mm axle protrudes out of the hub to accomodate the 3/8 bolts in a 14mm dropout.  So I'm not certain it would fit at all unless the frame was stretched.

I like the way it feels much better than the Randy because of the lower bottom bracket.  It feels much more stable.  But that's just my preference.  I think S&M used an extremely low bracket because their intention was to use shorter cranks with this frame.  I can't feel the difference in the steeper 0.5 degree angle.  I'm thinking the lowered position of the headtube due to the shortened fork may have something to do with that.
