Re: 1984 Redline RL-20II

Very nice... I love it! But, it is more than likely a 1985 model with the straight frame standers. Correct me if I wrong but, as far as I know anything earlier than that would be OZ's all white prototype with missing center brace between the twin top tubes.

I was under the impression that if the serial# began with RD it was an 84.

Re: 1984 Redline RL-20II

^Can we confirm this? Because that would be pretty cool if this is one the very first ones. It may indeed have been manufactured in '84 and then possibly sold as an '85. Nevertheless, very cool...cool

the first 250 RL20II were all white . This is one of them made in 1984

Correct....in the RD serial number the "D" is the 4th letter of the alphabet, RE serials are for '85.

Up to late '86 they were all made in Japan, '87 and '88 models are made in Taiwan.

I used to have one of these '84 RL20II framesets....never should have sold it......

I would say try to keep it as this is the ACTUAL bike you were with during childhood.....

Re: 1984 Redline RL-20II

That's right... now I remember hearing about those first 250 but I wasn't sure if they had made them in '84! That is so awesome! Please post more pics if you can! big_smile

Awesome RL 20II cool
Here a Pic from my 1985 Original All White RL-20II but mine comes with the cable guide near the Headtube and I think the 84 Model comes without.
