home made parts let see em

i love stuff that guys make in the garage or shop, maybe in a little spare time at work if you are a machinist or something.

i'm working on these pedals at school. i think they will be pretty sweet after i sand and polish them. getting the bearing bore just right so that the spindle length perfectly offsets the bearings is pretty tricky

Re: home made parts let see em

in the early 80's i started making a pit bike frame/forks (and was going to make as many parts as possible).
my dad threw away the frame, forks & post away a few years ago. sad  only have the seatclamp left.

Do rubber bands count? I found a way to use a rubber band on my bike so my foot woudn't get caught in cable.

But on a serious note. Try to take a smaller last cut with your end mill running a littlte faster than the rough cut. (less milling marks) Make sure you use a reamer for the axle the bearing surface final size. (it will be more true then a end mill or drill). Looking cool so far, bud.

you know i didnt think about that when i made it that thick i just thought it would look cool. after checking it doesnt really come close so i figure if my ankle is over there my foot must be off the pedals in which case i need to worry about my nos trog cages first lol

Re: home made parts let see em

If you look close you can see the cranks my buddy made for my son. He also made the polycarbonate chainring on there too.

Here are the pedals that he made as well.

Initials E and S for his name. They are made out of high density plastic and the spindles are custom titanium.
