Going to "Pint Night" at my local dive tonight... Brooklyn Brewery is there. They have excellent beers as well.

Never had a bad brew by them.

Headed up to Great Lakes shortly. Won't be partaking in the firkin tonight (Edmund Fitzgerald infused with chipotle peppers and bacon) since I don't do pork. Plan on trying the Imperial Dortmunder though. big_smile

Had a Starr Hill (Charlottesville VA) Pumpkin Porter last night. It was black as night, and delicious. Not heavy at all.

Re: Craftbrew anybody...?

The guy at the Acme market was stocking the shelves in the beer section. I scored my first 4 of Great Lakes Blackout Stout for the year. I forgot how strong this stuff is. 1 Yuengling Black & tan and two of these in and I'm feeling damn good. big_smile

Re: Craftbrew anybody...?

Went out to eat with my family the other day and ordered a Stone Anniversary Double Black IPA and instead was brought a Stone IRS... needless to say I was excited by that mistake.

I haven't had a bad beer from Left Hand. I'm waiting for chillywilly to start posting pictures of Christmas Ale.

Hehe. One of these days I'll pick up a six pack. I've been side tracked with others recently. Don't worry, I've already enjoyed some. I think I was nearly in heaven the Saturday before Halloween.. Great Lakes had Christmas Ale and Nosferatu on draft in the brew pub. big_smile
Here's tonight's treat:

I highly recommend it if you're a fan of dark beer. I've seen used motor oil lighter in color. lol Of course the dork in me had to crank up the Miles while sipping on this.

Re: Craftbrew anybody...?

Nice. I just talked to my sister today and she snagged me a case of Christmas Ale and two packs of Blackout Stout. If you can find Founder's Breakfast Stout I highly recommend it. It's choice.

Re: Craftbrew anybody...?

Huge picture of what I bought yesterday. (Not my picture) This stuff's great, but pricey at $28 a four pack. yikes This stuff was selling like crazy too. If it's anything like last year, the bottles will be sold out by the weekend.

Nice! I saw a picture of the line outside the brewery for the release, you're one of the lucky ones. I've got some FFF Robert the Bruce I'm waiting to try.

I scheduled a personal day for yesterday a while in advance. We got up there right at 10am and surprisingly there was no line. A couple people walked in ahead of us, we bought ours and walked around for a bit, made our way back to the car and noticed the gift shop was packed then. We hit a few bike shops waiting for the brew pub to open and after we were done eating exited through the gift shop and there was quite a bit sold already.

Re: Craftbrew anybody...?

We were in Pittsburgh a couple weekends ago and were in Giant Eagle to see if they had any local brews and stumbled upon one lonely six pack of Duck Rabbit Milk Stout. Even though it wasn't a local brew, it still made my night.

I love the Duck Rabbit, it's a local beer so I can enjoy it on tap.

I was going to say I was jealous, but then I remembered I'm 40 minutes from Great Lakes. tongue I went to firkin Thursday there a couple weeks ago and had Edmund Fitzgerald infused with chocolate yerba mate. It was awesome!

Sipping on this right now. Picked this up while I was in Pittsburgh. Rust Belt Brewing Company is out of Youngstown, OH. I had one of their beers before. One of the guys that helps out at the lbs occasionally lives in Warren and I just so happened to be in there one night about closing time and he had some of their beer. I stuck around and sampled. Pretty good stuff.

Decided to open a barrel aged blackout stout. not sure if that was a good or bad idea, but it is delicious.

Re: Craftbrew anybody...?

This is brewed right here in Michigan. "Bells" made on the west side of the state. It has become widely popular, you can find it all over the state now. It is delicious just like the bottle says" Oberon, our summer ale. An American wheat ale with the color and scent of a summer afternoon"  to me it's the perfect beer. I've always liked wheat beers. This one is done just right. They only make it available by the bottle in stores during spring and summer only. Making it exclusive and more sought after. They also make mini kegs big_smile

Re: Craftbrew anybody...?

Doesn't get much better than Bell's, though I do prefer the Two Hearted Ale. Hoping to try the Hopslam next time I'm in the area.
