Re: Rad movie geeks

Owl...there is a scene in the movie (you can find it on youtube) where they list off all the riders and you can see what they have.  I'll see if I can find it.  Oh, by the way, I just watched it once so don't think I'm a geek.  big_smile

I'm travelling this week....anything purchased will be shipped on 5/23/20.

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

2:45.  You can kind of figure out the bikes, but that's my duty for the day.

Here's one bike that was used several times in the RAD movie. It was used during the race at HELLTRACK. Cru Jones was racing on it, as well as other bikes, i.e. Mongoose Californian. One had the stock "Win" handlebars on it and the other had the Mongoose Pro Class Californian handlebars on it and both had the blue Team Murray X20C Crossbar Pad on them in several scenes during the HELLTRACK race.

You'll also notice when Bart Taylor meets up with Cru Jones and his friends, after the race, at the fence with the white "Murray The Official Manufacturer Of Bicyles For The 1984 Olympics" banner near the finish line, he's clearly on a Team Murray X20C. You can see clearly the front half of the Team Murray X20C in that scene towards the end of the movie, as he shakes Bart's hand.

And Yes, at the beginning of the movie, during the newspaper route, Cru delivers a newspaper to the employee outside the 7 eleven store and the bike sitting outside of the 7 eleven store is a Team Murray X20C. The white sign reads "Enter At 7-11 And Win This Murray".

Here's a link to a pretty cool story of how I acquired this *NOS* Team Murray X20C:

Re: Rad movie geeks

I lent my copy out to my buddy Scott Tattrie, so it's hard to see details on the computer. He raced locally at the time when the movie was made and can pick out many of the local riders in the qualifiers. Heres a little rundown of the main that I can make out. Not 100% sure but here it goes..

Skyway-Richie Anderson
Robinson-Travis Chipres
Redline-Scott Clark
GT-Martin Aparajo
GT-Kevin Hull
Hutch-Jeff Ingram
Norco-?
Powerlite-? I think he was local
Vans- rosecrans kid
