No Orange and no Green in 87... It was the earlier 85 and 86 models

There is one in the pictures at the top of this thread hmm

Come on guys, you should know by now that not everything in the world of GT is set in stone. I am gonna go back to my folks and look through all the old photos again, see if I can find you some proof!
There are a few guys on the radbmx site who I used to ride with at a park in England who remember the bike from back in the day.

It was fresh out the box when I got it, it was a Team and it was GREEEEEEEEEEN! lol

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

I believe you! I know there were maybe a handful of GTs made in rare colors, but most were made for pro riders or by custom order. Anything is possible in GT as they didn't always stick to "the rules". I would love to see any old pics if you happen to find any. I love seeing the old pics and how the bikes looked back then when some guys would customize them.

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

i agree with acuzer, there were some "odd" colors..but most that iv seen where done for pro riders not for the public. i remember in the mid 90's the pro freestyles only came in chrome, but there were pro riders that had yellow, blue and red ones.

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

I was just saying the PFT could be considered a "team model" bike BITD since team riders rode them.. I knew back in 85-86 that the world tours were the "team model" of the gt's

Yeah it was England. I can not remember the exact date I got it but I worked for my old man all summer holiday then had some early bithday and xmas money towards it. It must have been around October, I had only ever seen them in a magazine and nearly went for an 87 Teal Team Master instead.
I wanted a blue one with spokes but this was the only one my old man could find in the country. I remember having a row with him because someone he had talked to on the phone in a bike shop had told him that the PFT was just as good as the Team Model. My dad said I was stupid spending the extra money roll

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

I still want proof here is all... I grew up around it in every way and around the pro riders and never saw this happen... A pro may have had some color done for them... But I never saw it... And I was there. (Not there 24-7 of course) but enuff... I just need to see to believe based on eexperience. Aleks makes a great point tho' Anything is possible... But factory riders had to use alot of factory colors and equipment for sales etc. That is one of the things that makes it harder to believe. Outside of competetions you saw team riders on other brands of bikes in every color... But not in competetions...

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

they most definitely made them in green! i bought a f/f from action wheels in mantua nj in 88'. i remember going there and seeing it on the wall for over a year. no one wanted it, including myself. finally i came up with a killer color scheme for it. bought it and every correct part for it including the 3pc. power series and all at 12 yrs old. man i wish i had picks of it! i did a different bike up every couple months and would sell or trade them to fund the next project. sad to say that bike was rode to death and thrown away in the 90's by my little step brother. that is why i'm so hell bent on getting another 87 pft. i'm gonna recreate that exact bike.

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

No Proof No Pudding... I am building a green one... But that does not mean they existed... They did exist before that on the Dyno and the GT... I think that is what they had in the past. not an 87 PFT... hmm

When I see a survivor... roll

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

The unicorn picture did not swing it for you? lol

Do you know what, when you ALL started questioning the GREEN I started to doubt myself and like you I started to think that maybe I had an earlier model. Even though I can remember starring at the 87 PFT add and working my arse off to get one I was still questioning myself. My memory is not as good as it once was and little things like... What happend to the Haro Gen 1 I owned before the GT have fallen out my head, I remember getting it (it had had about 8 owners before me) and I remember sanding the chrome down, painting it yellow and covering it in Club Home Boy stickers (sorry haro fans), I remember putting the yellow Tuffs off my Raleigh Burner on it but I have no idea where it went when I got my GT. I know I had them both for a while as I can recall a day we were jumping our bikes in to a canal and I went back to get the Haro as I did not want to do it on the GT.

Its odd the things you remember and the things you forget.

I remember painting the 2 indented GT logos on the bar behind my seat black when I got some Black Dyno bars
I remember struggling with the Power Series cranks when I needed to get them out

I could not do either of those things if my bike was earlier.

I was thinking I might be wrong but when you take everything I have told you about my bike in this post and previous posts in to account, add that to the FACT that I saw a boxed NOS green PFT frame and forks on ebay early 2006 when I was trying to get mine together. Then the fact that someone else on here is saying they owned one. You would be wrong to dismiss it.

GT did some odd things. It was Team model I owned. Do you not think it is possible that a few US made team models left the factory using up the rest of the green they had? or maybe they made green but fazed it out early as they were not selling?

Has every other GT part you have ever seen followed the letter of the law to what the catolouge says?

I can not be bothered defending the honour of the Green PFT anymore so I will say no more on it unless I turn up a photo (I have mates I used to ride with looking for old pics)

Cool your building a green one Rividude, if its going the same shade as mine and you want the Ral cade PM me.

Cheers
Matt smile

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

GT did alot of crazy stuff... But The proof is in the pudding for me is all... I said it before... Anything is possible... I just want to see this mythical creature... In survivor form... I hope it is out there... So the Yetti and Bigfoot wont feel alone in the world... LOL lol

So if you had one SWEET... I wish you still did... Not sure how you can have the proper color code without haveing a survivor to match it to... But shoot it my way and I will take a look at it. I am leaning toward a LIME/Neon kawasaki style green at the moment... If GT used a green in 87 it woulda been bright and neon lookin... Or just some green that had laying around from the year before. Either way stranger things have happened. Somone got an attitude with me because where i was in Cali every Pro Performer came with frame and fork standers. They tried to tell me the catalog did not say that. But all the ones I saw came with them. Maybe the shop did it in LA or maybe GT did it... Ya never know... Maybe a couplea shops sent out a frame to be tinted green too... ??? Anything is possible...

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model

would still like to see pics of a survivor green PFT, as for the frame and fork standers im pretty sure the bike shops added them Rivi. it was pretty common for shops to add parts or change parts. my brothers 86 gt pro performer came with a white dominator seat that had been put on by the shop in place of the white gt bmx seat, it also had white gt frame standers which the shop installed.

i cant completely dismiss the green PFT...as iv seen a 87 PFT that was gt pink and not da glo pink...
