1978 Race Inc. RA-7

One of the rare Race Inc. RA7 airfoil top tubes around. Original owner.

1978 Race Inc. RA7 with the airfoil top tube. I purchased this bike in 1980 brand new. A very popular bike shop in Bloomingdale Illinois had a once a year parking lot bmx flee market. They had a stack of these bike kits available that they were unable to sell. When I purchased the kit it came with the frame, fork, bars, and seat post. The aluminum bars didnt last two months. The price as I racall was $99.00. The bike was purchased white, but in the next few years I change the color several times. I road this bike to school for two years. Then for my eigth grade graduation I received my black Hutch frame and fork. All the parts were stripped off and the frame and fork went in the attic for 28 years. The Race has been striped and powder coated. There are no flaws on this on this frame or fork. Some of the parts I have chosen for the restore are new, but they fit the look I wanted. I think it works.
I have never seen a Race Inc. like this. Ive seen a few with the airfoil top tube but never one with the small triangular brace above the rear brake bridge. Most of the ones I have seen measure 3-4 inches long, mine measures  two inches in total length. This would confirm Bill Bastians mixed and matched creations.

Beautiful ride, bro!  I've never seen a (air)foiler in white - very nice!  I'm totally biased, but the early Race Inc.'s with the diamond drops are some of the sweetest frames in BMX...definitely the sweetest welds in all of BMX.  AND you're the og owner, which is very rare - strong work throwing her up in the attic and not selling her!

Re: 1978 Race Inc. RA-7

Very nice! Wow@$99 in 1980... wish it was 1980 again

My Airfoil TT has the small triangular brace above the rear brake bridge too, but not diamond dropouts. My serial RA23xxx makes it a 1979
