1982 Hutch Pro Racer

Pro Racer Custom Build.

This build started with a Craiglist score- $90!  The frame, cranks, headset lock came from that and were in rough condition to say the least.  They had to be sanded, polished and cleaned up.  I was able to get a solid set of hutch undrilled forks from a member here.  I decided to get the bike painted instead of re-chromed because I wanted to go for a custom look.  The anthracite color was chosen when I met with the painter (I was originally thinking about going with maroon-- it is an Aggie thing).  I'm so glad I didn't go with that, because the anthracite looks awesome!  And I'm not just saying that because it is my bike.  The parts that were painted black needed to be re-worked and refinished (I didn't suck the soul out a perfectly good part.)  The rest of the parts came from Bullseye, Colored Tuffs, and from other scores.  The Hutch decals were purchased from another member, who bought them from JDB.  The other decals are custom Profile Crank and Araya Rim decals that were made at Retrospect BMX.
Update 08/13/11: New pictures to show the new Kashimax Aero and Flite pads.
Update 10/30/12: Changed out some parts.  Dia-compe brakes and Tuf-Neck stem, chainwheel, and powerdisk.  I haven't taken new pictures yet.

Here is the current parts list:

82 Hutch Pro Racer frame (preserial number) (powdered anthracite)
Hutch undrilled forks (powdered anthracite)
Hutch Headset Lock (powdered gloss black)
Hutch reproduction decals
Tioga Bear Trap 2 headset
SE Power Wing Bars (powdered anthracite)
Araya 7x Rims  (powdered gloss black) with custom decals
Shimano Freewheel
Bullseye Hubs
Bullseye pedals
Bullseye chain tensioners
Tuf-Neck Stem (powdered gloss black)
Tuf-Neck Power Disk and Chainwheel (powdered gloss black)
Profile 3rd Generation Cranks (powdered gloss black) with custom decals
Profile Bottom Bracket with Cups
Profile Seat Clamp  (powdered gloss black)
Kashimax Aero Seat with Kashimax seat guts
Dia Compe MX 900 rear Brake (08/83) with Dia Compe pads
Dia Compe cable (dated 04/15/85)
Dia Compe lever
Flite "no logo" padset
Ame grips

A sincere thanks goes out to Marc (01blacks4) for the awesome deal on the forks.  Johnny Neufeld at Crosslink Powder Coating of McKinney for the badass paint job.  Mark at Retrospect BMX for the custom Profile and Araya decals.  Johan (jjr) and Norcal66 for answering ALL of my Hutch questions.  Mike Caylor (a gunsmith friend of mine) for the help and advice with the metal work.  Joe at Plano Cycle and Fitness for a perfect lacing job on the wheels.

Thanks for looking!  All comments are welcomed!

Beautiful build, old & new combined. A nice black Kashi & some chrome Hutch pads will put her over the top!

Re: 1982 Hutch Pro Racer

Thanks for all the nice compliments.  Yes she is a rider.  As far as being evil looking, I would say she is 49% evil, 51% good.

You two were completely right about the Kashimax seat.  I'm not sure about the chrome Hutch pads, though.  I will keep an open mind about them.
