1978 Champion Squareback

Super rare squareback BMX LEGEND. Made by the early Redline, and later Kastan frame builders.

Best of the best, a bike of legendary status back in the day. No serial number, as was a team frame I had ordered for racing. 1978 Squareback Champion.  Rear squareback chain stay tubes were similar in design to the swingarm of the same companies dirt track motorcycle frames, the two looked very similar.. The bicycles where the same  quality chromoly tubing. my bike included RRS fork, Philwood hubs n 7c arays rims. DT spokes. Cheng shin knobbies. Cooks bottom bracket and neck. Later photo's show Cooks neck was replaced with Redline squareback neck. Bob reedy pedals, mounted  on first Sugino mightycross, then stepped it up to Campagnolo's strada cranks. Mathhauser brake pads mounted on Wienmen symetrics side pull brake calipers. Redline nickel plated V pro size bars. VDC seat post, suntour clamp. Advocet leather seat. Oakley 1' grips.

NOTE: This bike was stolen by a guy named Mike Gill. Nickname "monkey" he moved towards Sacramento with my Champion, around  1986......
White guy, would be in his 40's, was blonde, by now its probably white hair. Bad complexion. I cant believe I let him ride my bike. That was it!
If you see him, kill him, thank you!!! STOLEN!

Very, very sweet bike. That frame is nuts.

"Ride it like you're riding after the dude who stole it."

Looking for a USA-made pre 1981 Redline MXII f/f with original black paint and decals.

Re: 1978 Champion Squareback

Thanks, when ever I hear rumor of a 78 Champ squareback, I always look into it. I may still find it someday. To think I let this "friend" ride my bike, he just never came back... I was floored.....It was gone, POOF!!!
