Re: 1982 Open Road
Sweet.
Replace the red w/Yellow, then it would look like my first BMX.
Having the project is what makes me happy, finishing it isn't something I think about.

Re: 1982 Open Road
I had a bike similar to this one. It was my first bmx bike. I got it for Christmas in 1981! Mine didn't come with mag wheels, but it did have a very, cool paint job (black/orange fade). I can still remember riding it around with my cousins who also got bikes for Christmas that year. We were going on and on about how this was the BEST Christmas ever!! A few years later, I decided I wanted a chrome bike so my dad spray-painted it silver. I also added a mag rear wheel that I bought for $5 bucks from a neighbor kid and some cobra grips. I still remember learning how to take the coaster brakes off and make it a free wheel. The only thing is, I never bothered to put handbrakes on it. Oh well, who needs brakes?

I have a frame and fork that I could sell someone if they want it. It's in great shape.

Re: 1982 Open Road
This was one of my first BMX bikes. At first I had a silver Open Road with red lesters, but if I remember correctly they looked more like a metal version of ACS mags. Someone cut the lock off and stole that one. So with the insurance money, my parents bought me this black one with these cool looking lesters. I thought it was awesome, cuz the round hole in the gusset made it look like a mongoose. That one got stolen as well
Here's a pic of me on the black one, it was identical to yours. I'm the hippy child on the left side of the pic
Remember....if everyone came to a bike show without a bike, it would just be a bunch of dudes standing around in a park...and that's just creepy! If you've got one, bring one. -Me
