where did you get the bike chain vans ?????

bought them at one of the vans outlet stores in California about a year ago-

they are called Cog and are part of the authentic line- I think they were geared (pun intended) toward the fixie crowd, but I could not pass them up...   color is tomato

I remember getting my first pair of vans at a little vans store in Altadena, CA back in 1978-79. Custom made with every color possible in every location possible. I think it was 14 colors in all...

If you are ever in Las Vegas- go to the Fashion Show Mall across the street from Trump. The Vans store, which is small has a little Vans Museum upstairs that is pretty cool with some sweet vans framed and mounted on the wall along with some Vans Warped Tour memorabilia and other Vans stuff.

Re: VANS thread. Who else loves them?

I've got a small collection going as well.  Six pairs of Vans (2 - SPD), one pair of Airwalks and my 'Detroit' Reeboks.

BITD, my father used to work for the Navy and ended up staying blocks from the Vans factory (Van Doren Rubber Company).
He used to bring Vans back to the East Coast for my brothers and friends before they were widely available. It was awesome. Each fall we'd have the newest ones for school and another pair at Xmas. My dad is still .

Re: VANS thread. Who else loves them?

I've always worn Vans for the most part and Airwalks too. I wear Vans for everything including work unless I need steel toes that day. They're even my comfy nite time shoes instead of slippers :D
The old Nike Air Jordans were the best for skating BITD I remember they were so expensive that I'd get them resoled at the shoe shop.

No offence about the new vans.  But the old one's rocked.  I liked the vans with the checkered look, my buddy had a pair with the american flag on them.  the old one's with the laces and these designs were killer looking.  I wished they went retro with these.  I had a few pairs in 1987.  I wished I didn't huck them...

Been wearing vans since 1980 and the best of late were the Geoff Rowley XL2 & 3's. I was kind of bummed when the changed them up this time around, so I'm back to the Classic Old Skool.

The Bucky Lasek XLs have been the best I've owned so far for longevity.

Re: VANS thread. Who else loves them?

I've been wearing Vans for years. They're truly my most favorite shoe. I wear Half Cabs and Classic Hi-Sk8's. On casual days at work, I wear Half Cabs. The other days, I'm wearing Doc Martens.

My older daughter only wears Vans, even with her prom dresses. She has at least 10 pairs.

Re: VANS thread. Who else loves them?

I got my first pair in 1984, and with the very brief exceptions of the short time I was sponsored by Vision Street Wear and that regrettable time I was heavily influenced by Run-DMC I have never worn any other kind of sneaks.

I currently own about 14 pairs, and have even gone as far as to try and put threaded grommets in the soles of one pair to make Golf Shoes. It did not work, because I am not a craftsman.

I rode 102 Miles in a road bike event in a pair of Mid-top Vans just this Saturday.

Re: VANS thread. Who else loves them?

At the NW show in Vancouver I felt like I was the only one not wearing Vans :|

I also realized that the rest of my shoes sucked for racing on platforms and I've got no business clipping in at the track

I picked up a pair of these

http://media.kohls.com.edgesuite.net/is/image/kohls/533527?wid=1000&hei=1000&op_sharpen=1

pulled out the cheesy little foam inserts and added some of these

http://www.ourhealthnetwork.com/UserFiles/Image/Pinnacle.jpg

Now I've got the best of both worlds, Vans style and pedal traction in shoes I can wear all day long without fear of pain later :D
