1988 Redline RL-20II
1988 Redline RL-20II
Sold 9/2/17
NOS 1988 Redline RL20-II, complete. 401 Flight cranks, Forklifter handlebars, those crazy Araya rims, Dia-Compe Nippon / 990 brakes, 6-bolt Forklifter stem, Pro Rotor, etc. I've kept the original crankset, chainwheel, caged pedals and white Redline-stamped seat but prefer the Flights and slight personal modifications as seen in the pics (NOS Elina Flyte Tech seat). I haven't yet installed all the brake cables (will get to it) and I'm always on the look-out for a set of NOS MKS Graphite-X 2000 pedals (in black) to finish her off. Hope you like my first Museum entry. I always loved those red Redlines. - Kevin

Re: 1988 Redline RL-20II
RL Paulie,
Thank you for the compliment! I bought the bike years ago - fell in love with it, made the mods then covered it up to keep it "fresh". I recently discovered BMXmuseum, and enjoy it so much, that I thought I'd start pulling out and posting some of my collection. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: 1988 Redline RL-20II
Very nice! I sold that very same NOS color scheme '88 to Redline J a while back. Mine had the NOS white seat that came on it stock. So, unless it was changed, that is not the same exact one....

Re: 1988 Redline RL-20II
That was my fave year for rl20II's,the 990 located there was futuristic, most frames have it there right now(the ones that still carry brake mounts, lol),and the aero rims are so tough,at least the 36 spoked japanese were,I never got to try the 48 hole version, but they must rock too,I remember the test in freestylin on this bike featured some hefty pool acid drop-ins,by mad dog,or pete augustin, can distinguih which in my mental pic of the article, lol, awesome bike,RL would be proud!

Awww, man.
The moment I posted these (I'm backing up my system and dumping a ton of stuff) I thought "You idiot...I hope he's not online..." And of course I can't edit my posts yet...
Sorry buddy. Dopey move.

Man this thing looks so good! The red on it is just...I don't know, it POPs so nicely! Perhaps its an effect of the grey rear triangle? who knows but it looks sweet!
Hey Matt - I'm guessing you couldn't jump on Paul's Mango RL, huh? Don't worry man, it's just a matter of time before another comes up. You know how it works.

Thanks Marcus! Most appreciated.
The red actually is different than the earlier California reds...at least the ones I have in my collection. It's a tad deeper and cooler in tone. Has a bit more blue in it (if that makes any sense)....

Yep... exactly.
I was sleepless thinking about that Mango 88 all week... after a few back and forth PMs, I finally pulled the mental trigger ... a tad too late. (it had just sold the same night) .. Oh well.
