Re: Show what ur Long distance bike looks like.

I mostly use my 84 Schwinn Sprint but i just got a C.itoh. I may end up using that more. And for those of you who dont think road bikes can fly I do it all the time just watchout the bars slip occationally.

Re: Show what ur Long distance bike looks like.

This bike has over 5000 miles on it.

I'd love a new one...but this one has special meaning to me.  It got me back on a bike after an 8 year hiatus from MTB/Riding in general.

I usually keep quiet unless I'm buying something, but this is a cool thread!

This is my 24" 1960 Hawthorne with Sturmey Archer 3-speed coaster brake laced to alloy rims, Brooks saddle, and home-bent wooden handle bars. (More crazy upgrades are in the works.)

Man..that's sweet.  How'd you do the bends on the bars?  Steam?  What's the wood?

Yeah, I built a small steam box and a bending jig. I'm still learning and perfecting the process. (And making a lot of kindling along the way.) Oh, and they're made of ash. Same as baseball bats, oars and axe handles, so I trust it.
