Re: If GT were to make repopped parts....

King I would not rule it out, If you look at some the current GT bikes, they are similar to the 80's style. I noticed this when I was at a shop. GT is trying to regian some it's roots. And I know this because I am friends with the owners of  http://scactionsports.com/  one of the top GT dealers in the country.

I would love to see the GT Freestyle tires in 1.75 with multiple colors and solid or skinwall options, DECALS...I can't stress this enough...DECALS DAMMIT. OGK Mags would be nice, and Frame/Fork Standers...

Re: If GT were to make repopped parts....

For all the guys asking for them to make a retro PFT, but with new school geometry and a threadless headset, what is the point? It would be just another new school bike with a name on it that we remember fondly. You could do that now...just repaint and resticker some new school hunk of crap, instead of paying GT some exorbitant sum of money for them to do it for you.

If they were going to reissue one of the classics, I would want it to be completely indistinguishable. Down to every last detail. Like Skyway did recently with those frame / fork sets. If they had switched those to threadless, I do believe I would have died inside. Just a little.

Re: If GT were to make repopped parts....

I kinda hope to see gt reissue the gt logo tread freestyle and race tread tires in all colors, however have the word reissue and the year molded into the sidewall of the tires next to the gt wing logo. something like this on the sidewall "gt reissue 2011" that way it's easy to tell these apart from the originals.

i'd also like to see the plastic viscount gt freestyle seats used from 1987-1996 reissued, but underneath the seat have "reissue 2011" molded in.

also the 80's gt wing logo padsets, but have "reissue 2011" printed in small letters next to the gt wing logo.

and, the 1987 gt performer ogk mags in all the colors available. but to tell them apart from the original mold this into one of the spokes on each side "reissue 2011"

and lastly, retro reissues of the 1987 gt pro freestyle tour and dyno pro compe but with 1 1/8 threadless setup, mid bb, 25.4 mm seatpost, and maybe extend the top tube to 20 inches on both. but again, make them distinguishable from the originals but clearly stamping reissue in the serial number

I know alot of guys on here are against the reissues but it wouldn't be so bad if they were at least made to be distinguishable from the originals, something as little as putting "reissue 2011" on each of the parts would be just enough to tell them apart from the original.

personally i'd like to have some reissue parts to use on riders because only being in my early 20's alot of these parts were very hard to come by in the 90's when I first started riding, stores still had old stock of the gt parts but in limited supply back then so I was not able to enjoy these products as much as some of the older members here.

Would love to find my old Dirt Bike.  It was stolen in Pompano Beach, Florida in about 1996.  It's a '92 with the block graphics on a Green frame.  Pitchforks, Slam bars, King Headset, GT (DK-style) stem and GT/Profile cranks.  Superlace hubs.  Would really love to put this back in my collection.

Me Too......same dimensions as original but stronger modern chromoly, 1 and 1/8" head tube with quicker angle (74.5 is fine) and thicker dropouts.

Re: If GT were to make repopped parts....

skin wall freestyle tires, seats, frame and fork standers would be nice. Maybe a set price and readily available 3 piece pro series cranks.
