Lets See Everybody's Schwinn Sting's!

I love the Schwinn Sting.

When I move up to the old school builds/collecting I want to build a Sting.

I just want to add here that Hobbes changed the name of this thread and deleted some content.

Sting is awesome, I have 2. I wish they were worth that much. I would say 1k-1250. Would be reasonable on a good week.

Re: Lets See Everybody's Schwinn Sting's!

I've got a frame and fork coming from a member here.

I'm psyched. big_smile

I think finding parts for it will definitely be the hard part.

Headset anyone? hmm

Re: Lets See Everybody's Schwinn Sting's!

Man, I have been dropping some bombs today.

I don't have pics of parts yet because they are in the mail.

I have my headset and fork installed.

I have a NOS fork from Rini's on the way.

Polished Pro Neck from fleabay came today.

Just bought some silver Araya's in the For Sale section.

I got some pedals, grips, headset and a seatpost coming from Porkchop.

And I bought a Profile chainwheel I don't really need but wanted.

I'm trying to calm myself down.

I still need cranks, bars, brakes and a few other odds and ends.

That's awesome! big_smile

Are those Flight Cranks on there?

I'm thinking about Flights on mine.

I may just go with a new set.

This puppy is going to be to ride not for show. big_smile

Re: Lets See Everybody's Schwinn Sting's!

I'm trying not to worry about it being all "OG" and shit.

I myself don't care much right now if it's all "OG".

The guys at the Schwinn forum would probably be disappointed in me. lol

A set of those 401's are expensive.

And who knows how long it would take me to find a set?

My other option is to put Profiles on it and use their "retro" spider and get a chain ring.

I know!! I'll buy a new set of Flight cranks. Put them on the BREW and put the Profiles from the BREW on the Sting.

That's an option. hmm

I got my 401's on the cheap.............. or else I'd have something different on there.

Re: Lets See Everybody's Schwinn Sting's!

That's what I'm thinking. big_smile

I don't have an old set or the retro set but I do have a retro spider gear and chain wheel that will be used.

I hope most of my parts will be here this week.

I still need a chain... Let's see, what else? hmm

Re: Lets See Everybody's Schwinn Sting's!

Ok guys check this out.

I bought a NOS fork for a Mini Sting because I'm a dumbass and didn't know what I was buying.

After some thought I took it down to Morton's Custom Cycles and had them lengthen the steertube.

$55.00 and a couple of days and I have a nice looking Sting fork that was NOS until I got a hold of it.

It is installed and looks good. big_smile

Re: Lets See Everybody's Schwinn Sting's!

Here are some pics of my "finished" bike.

Let me first thank all the museum members that I got parts from.

Every part of this bike except the cranks, seat, tires, chain and handgrips came from right here.

That stuff came form Porkchop and Dans.

I hope you like it.
