1984 Skyway T/A XL

"Myway"

Friends, this is my NEVER built, NEVER repainted '84 T/A XL frame.  She's a USA-made True Temper chromoly classic with a 19.5"tt and flawless dropouts.  I bought her from Trend BMX (TX) in '95, and all I've done to her is put a non-era correct GT Double Bolt seatpost clamp on her.  No forks, no headtube or XL stickers, but all else is original.  I'll prolly never have the stones to build her up, so say what you want -- she's still THA BOMB.
6/3/11 UPDATE:  Okay, you can scratch that idea of me not building her up -- it's something that I simply have to do because she will be the only brand-new bike I ever will have built to my specifications.  I've begun to amass NOS parts for her and plan on building her with all NOS parts, with as many of them being USA-made as possible.  It will take a while, it will probably be pretty costly, and I can guarantee that NOOOO other T/A will look like her once I'm done.
7/10/12 UPDATE:  Finally done, and her name is "Myway".  Here's the parts list:
1984 Skyway T/A XL frame
Answer Alumilite Pro fork
S&M Race bars
Profile XXL stem
Tioga Beartrap headset
SE Racing grips
SE Racing Sleek Seat II embroidered seat
GT Micro-adjust seatpost
GT double bolt seatpost clamp
Sun Ringle Super Stock sealed hubs w/ whatever spokes and nipples come with them
Sun Ringle Rhyno Lite rims
Shimano 16T freewheel
Shimano brake cable
Odyssey Pitbull II brakes
Odyssey Pitbull lever
Redline Flight cranks, double pinch
No name chain tensioners
Primo Balance sealed pedals
DK Cadence sprocket, 44T (of course!)
Half-link chain
Kenda Kontact tires
Repro Skyway Designs T/A pads
Custom dice valve caps (thanks, Jersey Devil!)

Re: 1984 Skyway T/A XL

Yeah, why is there a seatpost clamp on there? I don't build up alot of my frame sets either. Sometimes they're just good the way they are...Saves alot of time and money too..

"Of course I'm crazy -- mad as a hatter!"

Good point.  I guess I was afraid of what I'd find underneath if I did take it off, but all I found was perhaps a 2mm wide blem just a few mm long.  Not bad.  Full disclosure! lol

I've been thinking the same thing.  I've measured and re-measured, and it's for sure 19.5".  Could be that the factory simply didn't pack "XL" downtube stickers in the box.

AA, it was originally on my Powerlite cruiser, and though I only rode it pretty lightly, I never had any issues with it.

Truth be told, there have been numerous occasions on which I've looked to get rid of it to invest in something I'll actually ride. Hell, I'm going through it right now! lol It keeps coming down to the fact that -- as I am coming to learn -- it's pretty rare, and it's the only frame I'm the original owner of. I know, words of a Sith...lol
