Re: flatland cruisers?

That's awesome cmc! You guys down there in Austin seem to have a pretty legit crew cool

That Liquid looks fun to ride too!

I'm not that tall (5'8"), but I like my Model C.  I bought a stock complete, then changed quite a bit to make 'flat worthy'.  This is my first 24, and I love it. It's not something I practice hard with, but just a lot of fun to mess around on!  I agree, more people should give it a shot.  Everyone I let ride it (other flatlanders), loves it!

These are from last fall after I just got it. I've changed out even more since then, and it looks a lot different.

Also dont forget about 22" bikes. a nice compromise between bigger and maneuverable.

Re: flatland cruisers?

Tribute is what I'd get, if I went this route.  TBH, I think a longer TT or a longer stem is probably what would "fix" the feel of most 20" frames...for all but the tallest of riders.  There's plenty of 6'+ dudes riding 19" TT frames like strowlers.  To me, that says that a 20.5" TT frame should be fine for 6'6" dudes who want to ride flat.

P.S.
You ain't going to time machine on a 24".  Not very well anyways.

I modified my2013 So Cal Flyer tip to a Freestyler
It doesn't work that well but is fun to ride
The brakes just don't work that well on tuffs

Yeah, I have the Tribute DTT (double top tube) 24".  I think it's a great flatland 24".  It has a 21.25"tt (maybe 21.5"?), short cs, and low standover.

I wish I had done a decent time machine in this clip for you, www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQA2E71iWUE but honestly I was never that good at doing fast spinning ones--I always did the slow spin.  I agree that larger diameter wheels slow down spins, but I still think people could do very solid time machines on 24"s.

I feel like finding the balance points is just as easy if not easier on the 24" for me and staying in them is even a little easier because of the stability of the bigger wheel.  But yeah, spinning tricks or tricks with the back end whipping around like whiplashes and pinky's are slower.

I did I wasn't happy with it so took the parts off to build a 20" freestyle bike. it was nothing fancy. found a old 90's 24" mountain bike on trash day. that was shaped like a GT performer frame. built it up. road it for a month. but it needs lots of work. to ride right. so waiting for a better frame to build one from. you know some thing with 990 mounts. I missed out on the limited  DTT that Subrosa did. now looking in to other brands.smile

yes C4 bars on a Primo casket shafted stem I did not have the hart to cut up peregrine bars. want to cut the bottom bar off like mid schooler's did. to get the shorter stand over hight.
