Re: Technique Bmx bikes - Show it!!

Technique mountain bike cranks.  Notice no place to bolt on a sprocket on the back of the drive-side arm.  Spider is slotted to fit onto the spindle, which is much smaller than the bmx spindles...Technique's mtb cranks came with euro bb's...

Re: Technique Bmx bikes - Show it!!

Their was 3 variations in the frames. The fist was square like in the article, second was hexagonal, the third was hexagonal but they made it bit beefer. When looking at the top tube it is wider then a second gen and the yokes are fatter when looking at it side on. Also the bottom bracket shell was not machined as much as the second gen ones. They made all these changes as tracks got bigger and more technical. They also made a stem.

PS how do i attach pictures?

It is about time you two fellows chimed in!  Where have you been Derek and Mike?

And Mike, I saw the question mark in regards to the black frame - I do still have the possible prototype frame from Derek.

Re: Technique Bmx bikes - Show it!!

Joey,

Answer Scythe forks and carbon expert bars would not be "era" correct for the bike.  There are plenty of mid-school options.  Answer actually made a carbon fork.  There are plenty of light aluminum bars as well.  I wouldn't use expert bars for a pro sized bike anyway.  Expert bars have a weight limit and are made for the lil' kiddies!  It was me wondering how many holes your hubs were...28 or 32? haha??

Re: Technique Bmx bikes - Show it!!

Joey,

If you want to keep it mostly from the same company, I would say answer aluminite bars (like AKCUDA has on his bike on page 1), answer pro carbon forks or answer aluminite forks (also on akcuda's bike on page 1), and a answer stubbie stem.

Thanks very much for posting the pics Mike.
I purchased the Bike from Brett (3rd gear). The best purchase i ever made. I emailed him a couple of times telling him how happy i was with it.
It was originally made for a sponsored rider who had this and a matching technique cruiser in the same color.
Their is a bit of a secret to this frame, that i found out from someone who had a lot to do with technique back in the day. This frame is one of 5 made, i know it looks no different besides the color to any other. But  it soon shows when you put it on the scales the frame weighs just under 3.5 lbs. They made this frame and the other four out of a thiner gauge aluminium. And they only did this for the sponsored riders. Was never made for the public. 3 of the frames had the bottom bracket shell ripped out as it was too thin. This one survived and he was not sure what happened to the other one. But this is definatly one of the 5 ultralight ones. He knew the the guy that was sponsored with this frame.
I was not going to post the bike yet, as it is not built to how i wanted it. will soon be finished as i am waiting for a couple of parts.
Josh
