1984 Hutch Trick Star

Awesome original Pink Trickstar. I was contacted and asked if I wanted one of these.
Every girl seems to think it is a girls bike. It is complete as can be. I have replaced the bars and seatclamp wth orig pink Hutch ones. and a pink aero seat, so it is complete.
Yes, those are 400 series flites too.

Re: 1984 Hutch Trick Star

Hey,
Woody is still in the industry.
He managed the GT freestyle team for many years.
I think he is working for Giant bikes now, since they bought GT, and schwinn.
here is a good interview with him, from another site:

Re: 1984 Hutch Trick Star

gary that looks like a 1986 hutch trickstar to me... you should look at the serial #... if it is on the inside of the left dropout it is either US or japan made... now the japan serial # will be above the axel slot with a baseball symbol after it... the US frame has the # under the axel slot with NO baseball.... and there is one other frame differance,  the 2 wing bars that come behind the seat tube   would extend like 3/4 inch past the small bar that goes up and down (just above the brake bridge)    on japan made frames the bars stop even with the brace     LIKE YOURS....

Re: 1984 Hutch Trick Star

Hi Gary,

Great bike!!!  I had an 'all' white (and I mean all white, SkyWay rims, tires, grips.......everything white) 86' TrickStar when I was growing up in Bronx as a kid.  Worked 2 jobs at 14 yrs old and bought it piece by piece and built it myself.

To make a long story, short.  Had to sell at desperate price due to very bad family situation.  The first and last time I did that in my life but it served its purpose at the time.

Now, just trying to get back a part of my missed childhood.   Not sure if you're willing sell yours or perhaps know anyone who has one on offer?

Any TrickStar will do (complete bike).   Any price will do.  And I'd even be willing to pay a 'finders fee' for the person who does the footwork for me.

Thanks for the consideration!
:-)

i bought one of those ones from walmart it broke after a while seems to be made of cheap metal but for 3.00 it is good to have one or two
i went  to a bike shop and bought a park one also along with a freewheel removal tool you just have to have one i have a very old set of spoke wrentches im thinking of replacing but i dont know the way my gt mags feel i may not go back to spoked rims
speed -man you got it going on  i will never attempt to do a hutch WAY out of my budjet
so you all should hope i come across some of that stuff so i can pass it on to you hutch nuts lol
any one who has dealt with me knows i like to sell stuff for the price i would like to pay just makes me feel like the favor may come back

We have probably met at some bike event.

Third vote for Japanese frame there (for the reason caleb mentioned on the frame standers stopping at the supports)

Re: 1984 Hutch Trick Star

funny thing about the standers on the frame...   it usually rings true the longet they are the earlie the bike is... long is 84, medium is 85, and really short is 86... although i have seen a few rare cases where it did not ring true..

like i said above this will tell you for sure.. the USA made frame has an all numeric serial # located UNDER the axel slot on inside of rear dropout ....  JAPANESE made has a letter in the serial # indicating the month and it has a baseball after the #'s.. and you cannot grind off the baseball because the JAP serial # are located above the axel slot..

i have found out another way to tell. i was told that inside the B.B. where the chainstays come in the US made has small maby 1/4" holes.. the japanese frames have holes the with of the chainstays... i have not checked wither of my bikes for this because i dont feel like taking the cranks off.. i know what years mine are by the serial # anyhow...

the serial # on this bike is   5L0181 baseball  ...  the 5 means 1985 and the L is the 12th letter in the alphabet so thats DECEMBER 1985... obviously released later in 1986, it had the 86 nora cup decal originally so i know for sure...
