Ross Apollo 5 speed
Hey guys, my neighbor at my beach house just gave me this bike, she was gonna put it in the trash but I told her I would take it. The guy at the bike shop told her never to sell it so I am not sure if I got myself a good deal ( well I did because it was free) but this thing needs to bee restored, it is a 5 speed, my question is did this bike have one of those cool shifters on the top tube originally or not? Any idea on age, thinking a 71...but not sure, any extra info would be cool. Thanks

Re: Ross Apollo 5 speed
Age is probably circa 1974-75 ish with that style chainguard. I think the older ones had the shifter on the top tubes, but later ones had them on the stem? I have a green Ross Apollo Racer single speed, which is the identical bike- color and all, to the one I had as a kid. These are very nice and collectible. Seats are wickedly hard to find in decent shape.
Wanted- White Industries Freewheel 19T and 20T, and Big Gulp bars- because I think they look goofy enough to cruise with!
