Re: 1982 Haro Freestyler
Are you going to build it up or leave it as is? I was really impressed with it in person when I got a close look at it. The chrome cleaned up nicely

Re: 1982 Haro Freestyler
This is the bike back in its former glory days. As you can see I rebuilt it back to almost 100% of how it was BITD. There is alot of the original parts on this bike from 28 yrs ago!

Is the chrome that bad? The pics make it look good. Mine on the other hand needs new chrome for sure.

Johnny, if I may.
The chrome isnt in super bad shape but there is quite a bit of rust by the welds and some other areas of the bike where the chrome has worn off. Its borderline for a restore but I dont think you can go wrong either way

Re: 1982 Haro Freestyler
Just got hooked up on this front 10/26/82 graphite campy tuff in MINTTTTTT condition. Also the maximizer 710 tires same tires on Juans 2007 rockford winner, and tires Bob Haro rode back in 82/83 on that bike. Super excited about getting this rim, the tires were a HUGE bonus!!!

Re: 1982 Haro Freestyler
hi,
I'm a noob at this. Can someone pls tell me how to spot a fake Haro frame? Especially Gen 1? I've seen one in a LBS but not sure how to distinguish it from fakes. Ask the boss and he says not sure too. (Maybe do know but want me to help him get rid of his old stocks..) The rear drop outs doen't have any bracket to mount a coaster brake. I do notice that many Haro posted here have this type of bracket. Is it a 'must-have' for all Haro bikes? Really appreciate any help rendered.

Re: 1982 Haro Freestyler
Yeah. Those Gen 1's are long gone.. Only collectors have them now. No bike shops have Haro Gen 1's around.. No way..

Re: 1982 Haro Freestyler
I think the absence of a coaster brake mount is the best indicator that its a Taiwan knock off.
If you are referring to the Haros in the eastcoast part of the island bike shops, you be sad to know they are all knock offs.
But occasionally someone might just pop by wth an old school gem to sell/trade, scored a few vintage whips thru that means.
