…Huffy Pro Thunder Builds! Pro Thunder Questions! Post them...

Have an AWESOME early 80's Huffy Pro Thunder bike or story to tell? Or maybe just starting on collecting one? Any questions about the parts? Please post them all here! There are many posts with information on here, but most aren't current and some members are gone. I'm by no means an Expert here! Just a Huffy Pro Thunder FAN-atic Collector. I try to educate myself on these bikes and help others out with what I can find on these underrated '80's Huffy Old School BMX bikes and I trust the Pros on here and at other BMX websites. I really like collecting these one of kind bikes, that we all had when we were kids, that couldn't afford expensive BMX bikes with our own money. We could only afford the department store bike brands.

So post your photos, stories and questions here?

Here's One Of My Amazing Finds Of A Lifetime. Enjoy! Stay RAD!

I'm looking for a black and gold single speed 80/81 to replace my first bike ever.
My parents bought it for me on a bday, had it for a couple of years, then wanted a new bike. Well we had no money so they spray bombed my bike silver and added some blue pads with silver stars and gave it back to me on another bday big_smile would love to find another

Hey jokerman13922,

Great story and man, I wouldn't like my parents doing that to me and my bike on my bday. Keep searching and don't give up. You'll eventually find one. They're out there, you just got to search and keep searching. Good Luck! Stay RAD!

I remember I had one as a kid yellow and blue and when i got money from cutting grass. I ran to the bike shop or some store to buy new parts. I just picked up a pro thunder F/F from the scrap yard. It needs paint and decals. I'm going to start getting parts for it will be cool when it's done.

There was one on CL in Baltimore recently with blue Z rims and Huffy hubs...  The guy couldn't give the bike away for $40.00.  I should have bought it for the Zs.

Wow! I would have bought that Huffy. If not just for the Z Rims. Do you still have his number? cool

I will restore a Pro Thunder once I can found one like I had. Was my first BMX, think it would have been 79 to 81. It was chrome with red accessories.

Do you have any year information on the ads above?

Re: …Huffy Pro Thunder Builds! Pro Thunder Questions! Post them...

I had a red and chrome Huffy Pro Thunder that I bought at a BEST department store in Florida around 1980.  I rode it for about a year, and then I found a used JMC in the neighborhood that I bought and started racing.  I can't remember if the Huffy was $50 or $100.  I believe I only had $50 saved up, so my dad may have matched my money if it was $100.  I remember wanting the blue and gold one like you have with the gears.  Those were good times....

My first BMX was this Huffy Pro Thunder.  I believe this photo was taken in 1983.  I remember being bummed that it was yellow.  This is the only bike that I have ever had stolen from me.  Wouldn't mind finding another someday.

If you haven't already, go buy the DVD Stompin Stu.   Stu talks about his sponsorship with Huffy and the Pro Thunder.  They even included the old TV Commercial for the Pro Thunder.

Killer documentary!   I don't even know how many times I've watched Joe Kid on a Stingray and Stompin Stu.

Sure I'll look like a bear at the circus, but I'll get a little fun out of it.
