Soak it overnight in Marvel Mystery Oil, then clamp the seat post in a bench vice and turn.  Should come right off.

Re: how do i get off seat post without damage redline frame

might try filling the weep hole at the base of the seat tube up with caulk and just filling the whole tube up with the oil.  If not you're gonna be buying alot of MMO...

Dont be afraid to go overboard on the oil,put a bucket under it if drips but spray the can in there."Better to lube too much and get off, than to use to little and get rejected"

Would like lots of bikes but the SE Hauler is one that has a lot of sentimental value to me. Anyone got one?

Re: how do i get off seat post without damage redline frame

and if all that dont work  take the frame and seatpost to your local radiator repair place have them soak it in the hot tank over night and bam that thing slides out without any tools  worked every time i have done it   wish i found this trick out years ago    the only problem is finding the radiator repair place    most of them have gone out of biz cuz most people just replace the thing instead of repair them   but i am luck two towns over a run down old school radiator repair place  only one i know of around for many miles

i had one like that. that didnt budge i had to drill a hole through the seat post put a large/long bolt through then put it back in the vice with the bolt as extra leaverage then used a flame torch (gently) around the frames seat tube then finaly used the frame it self as leverage to twist it off. hope this helps if its a bit more stuborn. ps the bolt is just to stop it sliping in the vice.

Re: how do i get off seat post without damage redline frame

I have a 86 Sport frame the same way. The vice didnt work on it either. It twisted the post. Been thinking about the hot tank idea. The machine shop that does my engines said he would soak it for me. I'd go that route. if the others fail.

I had a fluted post in a dyno compe frame that i'd tried everything on....finally after MANY soakings in penetrating oil and using an older junk stem it started turning,  then used a vise and a hammer against the junk stem and it finally came out.

Agreed. I just did that exact thing last night on this:

http://mysite.ncnetwork.net/resq8jtl/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/CIMG1074M.JPG

And that's not even a real seatpost, it's electrical conduit banged in there! I was calling it the TNT remover. TuffNeck and Torker forks!

Re: how do i get off seat post without damage redline frame

I have a nasty stuck seatpost in a cruiser frame.  I filled the seat tube and what is left of the post up with Transmission Oil and Acetone- 50/50 mix.  So far it has been sitting for 4 days, and no movement.  After a couple of more days, I will try the stem trick.  If not, Plan C is the hot tank.  Plan D is sending it off to the Frame Doc for a shellacing!!!

Wanted- White Industries Freewheel 19T and 20T, and Big Gulp bars- because I think they look goofy enough to cruise with!
