June of 16 i posted that, I fell off the wagon shortly thereafter and haven’t stopped. Almost a pack of Old Port Colt cigars these days. Killing me though, My voice is raspier than Kathleen Turners and I feel like shit.

Good on you though for 11 days in.

I'm hoping this is my last time quitting. But, I know it is hard and have done it before only to start back up later.

Dang, I would Start With A Juul.  My Mom Smoked 45 Years And Stopped With It.   Now she is off the Juul.  Took her a couple Months to Stop Smoking The Juul.

Re: Quitting smoking... day one

After  over 30 years, I went cold turkey back in February.  Smoked until I went to bed one night (smoked over a pack that day), & just didn't have one when I woke up.  No gum, vapes or anything else to waste money on.

I enjoyed smoking & still feel the temptation to have one every now & then.  Mainly when I'm out shooting pool or in the car on long trips.  I quit for my health though & the fact that the body heals better when you don't smoke.  At 50 my body needs all the help it can get.  Also looked at the fact that a single pack was costing me more than a carton did when I started.  I'm now saving over $200 a month.

Biggest thing, you have to make up your mind to want to do it.  Going in half hearted doesn't work.  That first week is rough.  The mind is much stronger than most people give it credit though, all it takes is willpower.

Good luck. smile

Exercise whenever you get the urge to smoke, it will take off the edge.

I quit smoking on August 3, 2007.
Immediately started chewing 4mg Nico gum for 2 years straight.
Then this March decided to start chewing 2mg gum but only 1/2 piece at a time.
I have now quit the gum and have been Nico free for 45 days.
It's a b1tch to quit the gum as well, but the gum did help me stop
the daily ritual of smoking.

Best of luck to all that try to quit

Just had a 9 year nico-free b-day           big_smile

Re: Quitting smoking... day one

I smoked a pack a day since I was 16. For 12 years, a pack a day!

I quit smoking back in 1999, but then my best friend was killed in a boating accident and I started back up. I smoked a pack a day for 6 months after his funeral.

This sounds crazy, but when I finally quit, I told myself...just go one day! Just one day with out smoking...it was hard af. Then the next day I acted like it was my first day and said, just go one day, one day and the next day, I told myself the same thing...just one day! Before you know it a month goes by!

People put limits on things like, let me see if I can stop smoking for a week or a month...shit, just one day is hard enough! Sounds cliche, but it works! One day at a time!

Haven’t had a cigarette or even the desire for one in 20 years!
