1986 GT Pro Performer
1986 GT Pro Performer
GT Pro Performer Club Home Boy Edition
Sold: 2010-06-18
I picked up this Pro Performer along with another one through CL as a pair. This one was in poor shape and had been re-welded at the junction of the top tube and seat mast. I figured it was a good candidate for restoration since it had not "survived" and can no longer be considered a survivor. I went through several ideas in my mind and they all slowly morphed into what you see here.
This style frame is one of my favorites because it's what I rode the majority of my skatepark years in the 80's and 90's (only mine was chrome). It was fun to finally get one and use as a canvas to play with paint and decals. See the progress from start to finish here:

Re: 1986 GT Pro Performer
This is by far the sickest GT I have seen. I like that you treated the bike like it was art and made it your own. Very unique unlike 80% of the Performers on this site that are dayglo pink, blue or white. Awesome build!!!!

I have to admit... when I first saw what your plan was, I was like, no way this turns out good....
But this thing looks awsome. Very very impressed. You have a good eye becasue I haven't see one like it ever. Very original and very cool.
