1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model
1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model
My Chrome ride from 87... bringing it back from the dead.
Here is my 1987 GT PRO FREESTYLE TOURThis is the bike I rode for years. Ordered it from ALBE'S out of FREESTYLIN' Magazine in 1987.I rode the CRAP out of this bike and it sat with no stickers and a mess of mixed parts on it for the past 25 years.
Since 2003 I've been slowly collecting parts from ebay and friends to get this bike looking nice again.
I replaced the Power Series Cranks with cleaner condition ones. Also, Luckily, I had saved an original set of Frame Stickers. The GT Team guys handed frame stickers packs out at one of the GT freestyle bike shop shows back in the day. ... which is part of what inspired me to fix up this bike - another thing that got me addicted to building all these bikes up again. I feel great about it though.. Freestyle was such a huge part of my life.
I'm pretty psyched about finding an NOS set of black KKT-SMX pedals for it, which I liked better than the original SR 474 pedals.

Great survivor bike, awesome that you kept it through the years. Can't go wrong with Super Pros and RL Edge tires.

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model
Dude.. you'll never believe it...
I was browsing thru ebay.. and found this early 80's predator... had tons of great parts on it.. Pergrine Super Pros, GT Power Series Cranks... and those ACS RL Edge Tires.. in mint condition.. I need to wipe them down.. but they still have the factory white powder on them.... Crazy...
this propelled my GT project WAY further.
Oh - and I only paid $150 for the predator... this was 3 years ago.
crazy... huh?
(that's okay though.. I've been ripped off a bunch.. so I feel like it was finally good BMX karma coming back around my way.)

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model
Nope - I'm never selling this one. I got it in 88, rode it for years - took it to woodward, thrashed it.. then polished and babied it, re-stickered it, now I'm returning it back it its former glory... sorry. But thanks for checking it out.

Nice ride Chromey!!! I had one of these BITD but baby blue. Looks real good in chrome! Very bold...kind of speaks "bring it on". I agree with your bar decision. Good choice!

Very sweet bike! I'm working on a chrome one myself. Gonna look like yours when it's done. I'm trying to get some superlace myself. But I like your wheels as well.
I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE BIKES OR PARTS... ALL MY PICS ARE OUTDATED

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model
Thanks guys!
yeah.. I'm in the process of putting together some Superlaces, (Black hub w/ chrome Araya rims) then I'll move the Super Pro's over to my 88 Master.
I'm actually looking for a set of chrome 87-88-89 bars to put on this thing.
( I know... i;m a sucka... and it's gonna look like everyone else's.. but I've got the bug to make it a little more era correct...since i'm preserving it.. and won't be thrashing on it. doh!)

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model
I'm wondering about the pedals in the picture. I have an identical set and was wondering the year. Are these what were originally on the 87 PFT?

Re: 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model
Nope.. the pedals in the pic are newer early 90s.
This picture is like 2 years old.
I need to update the museum of this bike.
It's much more complete.
