1982 Champion 26

I just scored this Frame and Fork the other day from one of my LBS.

SOLD   I found this at one of my LBS and was stoked when they guy said it was for sale. I have always loved the Champion frame design and now to find a 26" this is a dream build for me. I will post more as the build proceeds along, hopefully quickly!

Re: 1982 Champion 26

Can anyone help with the year on this? I put 1982 just because I had to choose a year!

Thanks

Re: 1982 Champion 26

I can't help with the year, but man what a nice basis for build! :o  I imagine you've done quite a few "mental builds" with various components and color schemes.  I'll look forward to your progress. ;)

Re: 1982 Champion 26

Yeah I have done a ton of mental builds, plus I even took the rims off my OM Flyer and tried that but the front axle was too big for the forks unfortunately.

Re: 1982 Champion 26

Hey dude, have you made any upgrades to your 26 Champion yet? I would  swap out the front sprocket for an older brand name one.
I found MCS sells a good aluminum sprocket, Its  new but it  feels more like oldschool. Just my opinion. Or theres Sugino, or SR, and a few other Japanese brands that are period correct. But your bike is bad,  and these bikes are even badder when parts match up time-wise...Good luck with it. I am looking for a 26 incher now. I have 20 and 24, so why not a 26?.

Hey what's going on?
I put the original rear MX1000's back on it and now I have to get some new wheels for it, since I was switching them between the Champion and my OM Flyer and I just sold the Flyer. I have bought some hubs and now need some rims to lace up. I don't think I will change to much more on it cause it is a rider and since the parts will actually get used I don't see the point in spending twice or three times the original amount on something that gets ridden as much I ride and will wear the part out and just have to replace at a crazy price again, but I always do say "never say never" so I might do something in the future cause I do like change.

Re: 1982 Champion 26

I sold it to a guy up in Vancouver. As I rode it more and then rode my 24" Cruiser I was liking the 24 and the Champion was just sitting there collecting dust. I figured I would sell it and buy the CW TFL I used to have and never gotten rid of, then build it the way I wanted to. I will build the CW over the winter and take my time with it.
