Is this the messed up episode where the bike shop owner was touching kids?

Basically the only difference between the Expert and the Californian frames is the tubing.  All tubes chromoly on the Californians and main only on Experts.

Catalog builds of course had different components and what not.  The Californian was a better quality/built frame.

Is there any evidence that goes against what's printed in the 1984 catalog? I'm under the impression that '83 and '84 models are tri-moly. I understand that it changed for '85,on.  https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/3032/screenshot_20200513-1435245ebc5b5986.png

It does get a bit choppy right around ‘84 when the overseas production began.

Main frame/All tubes/Tri-moly..?

If your frame, a frame still has that tiny original top tube decal right behind the head tube...there is a good chance it was made in the U.S.

81 frame and a new production Tange fork...Starting off the plan was to use parts I had already for a shelter inside build. To date I've purchased Al's Rapid Transit laid back seat post and pro V bars. I love the quality. A Knight bike co. Ruf neck stem, also nice. Repop Mongoose grips and Motomag down tube decal. A super clean Tange seat clamp on here.

Re: Mongoose Builds! Mongoose Questions! Post them here...

Hi. Old School Mongoose fork question. I am restoring a 82 Mongoose California Special. The serial starts K2 which means it was built around Nov 1982. The forks look like DeCosters and have a brake caliper hole and the correct mongoose 82-83 fork decals (according to BMX Products.com). However, when taking apart the headset and fork, I see that fork is stamped Tange 1L (so Dec 81). Does anyone know if Tange made forks for mongoose that look like DeCosters?  Thanks in advance!

Re: Mongoose Builds! Mongoose Questions! Post them here...

I've been working on my 85 Californian Pro Class and bought a NOS seat off another site to replace my beat up one. The first set of pics are of my original seat that came with the bike. Last pics are of the seat that I bought. I didn't notice until after the purchase that the seat was close but not exactly the same. Does anyone know if the new seat is fake? If it is legit, did that style seat come stock on the Pro Class? Any help would be greatly appreciate. I would stick with the first seat...it actually doesn’t look to bad.  The second seat you posted is not a Mongoose seat.  It is one of these guys...hope you didn’t spend to much on it.

Re: Mongoose Builds! Mongoose Questions! Post them here...

At first, I thought it was a Aeroyal, but when I looked, the seat I bought has 10 slots in the top, and 4 in the front side, same as my Californian M1. The Aeroyal has 15 slots on the top and 3 or 4 on the front side. My seat is identical to the seat in question except for that back flared out piece where the logo would be.  I've looked at every Selle Aeroyal Seat sold on the museum, and I can't find a single example of one with 10 slots on the top or the "BMX" logo on the side. I haven't paid yet, but I want to be 100% certain before I pay or back out of the deal. The guy claimed that it was from A Pro Class Californian https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/33169/screenshot_20200607-170707_ebay5edd571a20.jpg

Re: Mongoose Builds! Mongoose Questions! Post them here...

I've now looked at hundreds of Selle Aeroyal seats and found that all have 15 slots on top and 3 or 4 in the side front, depending on weather it is a mini or not. None have had the BMX logo sticker on the side. Does anyone know what company made the M1 seats and if they made seats for other bike manufacturers that were similar, but not exactly the same?  Any other versions out there.
