Re: 26"no one can name it so far,

I just emailed a guy who worked at some different bike shops in the Santa Cruz area in the 80's. He worked at one that sold that bike according to the pic here:

http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=133346

I'm curious to see if he can come up with something...

Re: 26"no one can name it so far,

Here is what I received from the guy who worked at Dutchman (who likely sold those bikes) in Santa Cruz:

I don't recognize that frame per se. I wasn't at Dutchman for very long. They were a terrible shop, mostly low-end stuff. Their standards for mechanics were so low I figured I was setting myself back by working there.

My guess on that bike is a Torker or a KHS cruiser. Dutchman carried both brands. That name badge on the red frame could be a model name, or the name of a line (e.g. I think KHS called their beach cruisers Sunlands or something like that).

Re: 26"no one can name it so far,

Well we know its no Torker so maybe a KHS but Id find that hard to believe as KHS is based here in SoCal and all those finds seem to come from NorCal. Im convinced those are a Nor Cal brand.

OK so i emailed 3 Santa Cruz bike shops to see if anyone can ID it.

That's absolutely the way to do it. I think somebody up there will lead us to the answer.

Here's my thread w my bike. Originally red paint, now black. I found mine set up as a mtn bike.

And few pics of mine and other found around the Net. Never ID'd though.

Bottom bracket on mine has serial #1521.

Re: 26"no one can name it so far,

Only one I found close is not correct. It is a looptail but NOT a twin top tuber sad
http://cgi.ebay.com/Euro-Edition-KONA-h … 4ced875a48

Ok found some old Kona sites. This is a 1998 Kona Cruiser
http://www.klassickona.com/oldgold/98bi … einfo.html Close but still no cigar. The site says 10 years of bikes. So perhaps it is an older Kona. But they dont have any older websites.

OK I emailed Kona for help.

The other thing that's interesting....no two use the same forks. I wonder if that has anything to do w who made it.
