1991 Auburn CR-20RX

1 of my favs in my collection
FINISHED!!
(unless i change something)

always loved auburns.  i had 1 all built up with sweet parts back in 94 was a 91 i believe green with aluminum subframe and some @#$%@ stole it!!!  oh well least i still managed to get another frame similar to it.
part are as follows:
Frame: Auburn CR-20RX
Fork: Odyssey Xtro race fork
Headset: Odyssey Pro Needle Bearing
Rims: 94 Sun Rhyno lite chrome double wall
Hubs: Front: Odyssey Xtro 25mm axel 36h
          Rear: Odyssey Xtro 36h
Spokes: Stainless steel with purple ano aloy nipples
Tires: Tioga Comp III 1.75 Retro
Cranks: Odyssey Black Widow repolished by me
Sprocket: Kastan Power Disk with Crupi Chain Ring and Purple Alloy Sprocket Bolts
Pedals: Odyssey Black widow AAPro sealed w/nos Trog cages
Chain: Chrome Izumi Race Chain
Chain tensioners: VG Purple Ano (Not yet pictured)
Brake Caliper: Pitbull with new Odyssey Pivot Pads and VG Boomerang
Brake Lever: Paul Love Lever
Bars: Elf Blast pro
Stem: Profile inverted
Grips: Black Jive Handles with Purple Jive Nuts
Cable guides: chrome dia compe
Seat:  Odyssey AA Pro Kevlar
Seat post:  Revcore Flagpole
Seat Guts: VG
Seat clamp: Odyssey pozi-stop
2-10-10
just put on the pro forx thanks Deveus33 for the great deal on these forks.  and i put on my blue ano tnt revolvers.  not sure what dirrection im going with yet on the wheels and tires.  ordered several purple ano parts from porkchop today and as soon as i get them ill update with new pics  last pic was the frame when i first got it
3-13-10
ok now i finally installed the black widow cranks and the Nos BB.  not sure if my black widow pedals are going on this build yet or not.
3-30-10
changed out the primo comets put on purple ano sprocket bolts changed out the dk for a purple inverted profile stem with a Hutch 2 in 1 head lock.  and the big change, took off the chromo subframe and FINALLY!!! got the aluminum subframe.  and after 4+hrs of 400 grit sandpaper and 0000 steelwool, i gave it a sick looking satin finish.  soon ill be getting a revcore seat post.  i didnt have a good enough main pic just yet and will update all 4 pics this weekend.  stay tuned for the grand finale on this project.
4-3-10
got the revcore post on and some decals for the subframe.  and again this project is taking a turn.  i like pro forx but it wasnt my first choice when i started this project.  but i finally was able to work out a deal with another member to get a nos set of odyssey xtro forks with both hubs.  spokes nipples and hoops will remain the same.  cant wait for the chilling conclusion of this chapter.
4-18-10
made the last of the major changes to this project and is for the most part finished.  the proforx will go on another bike might sell the tnt hubs.  i think this was a good change the chrome forks look nicer i think and the xtro hubs are just so damn  cool.  pics just dont do this setup justice at all.  still want the CR20 rx decals padded 90s gt or elf seat and elf blast bars with higher rise and the elf decal in place.
9-19-10
finally replaced the fake blast bars with real 1s and with a taller rise like i wanted.  i still need the elf decal for them tho. so if you have 1 for sale let me know.  ill update the pics when i can.
3-16-11
updated pic 1 and 3 to show the fake blast bars were replaced with real 1s.  this change was made a very long time ago just never got around to changing the pics.
4-13-11
Got some Elf Bars today to replace the elfs i already had.  these 1s have better chrome and the elusive elf decal intact like i wanted.  the seat is 1 of the remaining lose ends.  still want that early 90s GT padded seat or an Odyssey AA Pro Black Kevlar seat.
11-16-11
i decided to mellow out the purple a bit on this 1 and upgrade a few parts i felt were not worthy.  the basic kmc chain was replaced with an Izumi chrome chain.  the tektro lever was switched to purple paul love lever.  the purple ame grips were switched to black jive handles with purple jive nuts.  i might change the purple brake cable to black to soften the purple density.
12-2-11
the gt drop nose seat  was switched to a odyssey AA pro kevlar seat changed the skyway pads to odyssey pivot pads. took off the 2 in 1 head lock and the epoch headset was changed to an odyssey pro headset.   ill update pics soon.
1-6-12
FINALLY found the GT Power Series sprocket i always wanted for this build.
6-19-12
came to the conclusion that the geometry was way off on this build due to the long offset of the revcore layback.  so i switched it out for a straight revcore post and also put on a set of VG seat guts.  just need a 1" decal for it now.  also changed out the stock boomerang on the pitbulls for a silver VG 1.  pics coming soon
6-24-12
FINALLY got the works link decals for the subframe and looks so much better now.  pics coming soon
7-10-12
its funny how long i waited to get a gt power series sprocket for this build and 6 months later i toss it to the side for a NOS kastan power disk with crupi chain ring lol
10-5-12
Replaced the spur tensioners with an NOS set of purple VG 1s.  anyone have some jad or kastan cranks so i can finish this thing finally lol

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20RX

the worst part about it was the fact that it was stolen the first day i took it for a ride.  yes i was retarded and left it outsidethe local card shop to grab a pack and 30 sec later bam!!!  as if he saw me and waited for me to go in.  yet 1 year of doing the same thing with my pk ripper knock on wood was never jacked.  oh did i mention i was a stupid kid >.>  i miss my hutch hubs pedals  and redline flights that were on the auburn too >.<  now im super careful with my stuff some ppl even say im obsessive lol.  but as soon as the massive rain storms ease up ill try to get some better pics to replace this 1

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20RX

ok another step closer to finishing this 1.  put on the chrome sub till i can get an aluminum 1.
i would replace these vps with black widow purple body/black cage pedals if anyone ever sells the 9/16 1s.   anyone have an early gt power series sprocket with the polygon holes?  41-44t  last thing ill need aside from a chain i can get easy from dans.  techically there is 1 more thing but ill need to put that on hold till the funds are good again.  a set of elf blast bars uncut with sticker in tact.  the 1s im useing are fakes :(

so final wish list:
aluminum subframe
black widow pedals
get real elf blasts
get 1/2 link chain
gt power series sprocket w/polygon holes
widow crank spindle (in the mail)
DK inverted stem pro size
blue  rocket valve caps w/e they become available :/

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20RX

thanks :D  it should be done soon soon as i get this spindle in the mail.  also need to figure out what sprocket.  more i think about it i might go with a chain ring with a power disk rather then the gt sprocket i mentioned before.  last few nice 1s i saw up for sale went fast :(  next update will be after its 100% done with new pics..... stay tuned :P

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20RX

its becoming more difficult to say which is my fav project.  but i can say that this my pk and my fit are the top 3.  this 1 is for the most part done.  i say it that way because i tend to change things up as i find parts that i like better.  ill be getting a set of purple body black widows soon that i will be putting a set of brand new trog cages on.  after i get them ill decide if i want them or these pedals.  of corse the widows are better but i want to see what set looks better with this setup.  let me know what you think about my newest child :D and dont be afraid to favorite it or my other babies.
if you do this cat here wont eat your face

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20RX

yah that was the 1 off ebay took a bit of elbow grease to get rid of those corse sanding marks but it looks sick now.  i also put my new revcore post on this 1.  i was going to put it on my pk but it fit too tight because of the knurling and i didnt want to force it :(  and ty for the compliment :D

on my next day off ill update the pics with accurate and better quality 1s

Very nice bike, I almost bought that rear-end out from under you on eBay. I'm glad I did not. I did pick up all the other Auburns outside that rear end. This is one of my favorite brands. Nice to see someone else that can really make a Auburn awesome in 2010!

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20RX

then there was the red auburn just last week on ebay went from 80 to 140 last 2 min  i was going to get it too but i wasnt going to build it yet so i backed off.  that rear end i got tho did need alot of tlc it wasnt damaged like dents or cracks but a poor atempt at sanding left it very rough.  glad to say it looks like new now and the satin finish much nicer then a chrome like repolish i must say.  my next project is to restore my brothers GT PFT thats pending aproval.  and if i can find a kastan uniblade ill start my other project.  or unless a cool frame presents itself like a 24 or 20" frame thats carbon/aluminum  been wanting to build a super high end carbon/ti racing bike but damn everything for that 1 costs as much as a car :|

Ok sweet Auburn. I just traded one away. Your bike looks amazing, but to me, the seat post doesnt flow.

Beautiful though!
