Decal Storage

I'm looking for some ideas. Currently, I have a vertical file folder with a bunch of envelopes stuffed in it and it's starting to bust at the seams. What do you other fellow decal hoarders out there use to safely store/file/catalog your decals?

Re: Decal Storage

Don't use a photo album. The sticky surface will bond to the back of the decal over time.

YOU CAN PURCHASE THEM WITH POCKETS THAT HAVE NO GOO OR PUT A SMALL PIECE OF PAPER BEHIND THEM TO STOP THEM FROM STICKEING. BESIDES IF YOU GENTLY FLEX THE PAGE BEHIND THE DECAL THEY POP RIGHT OFF THE PAGE.

Re: Decal Storage

I've got a bag with some decals in it, a Snafu tin from some older pegs with some decals, and my JMC decals are in a file folder, with paper on either side, along with the pads.

Re: Decal Storage

Large padded shipping envelope.  Dunno.  I got a set in that envelope and just kept putting them in there.

Re: Decal Storage

If using paper, it should be acid-free.  Comic book collectors use that type of paper.  Always store in a cool, dry place.  Humidity murders decals.

Re: Decal Storage

i use a binder with page sleaves. you can get the tabs with sticky to put on the sleaves to mark the page sleaves by brand. that way they stay sorted. works really well.

Re: Decal Storage

+1 on ziplock, airtight and acid free. Photo albums are notorious for turning the contents YELLOW after a while and what if the backing paper is STUCK to the album. If you really need an album, hunt down some archival quality albums. The pages are made of 'acid-free' paper which lasts longer and don't yellow with age.
