2008 Staats Pro XXL

I was excited to receive this high quality used frame off of ebay for a smoking price, on halloween. She's in great shape with very few and minor scratches, also missing D.T. & T.T. & seat mast decals

I got the frame on halloween day  2009, and finished the build in January 2010.
The reason for building this bike was that I wanted a race bike that I didn't care too much if she got scratched up, so that I could race more aggresively against a couple of aggresive and sloppy local racers.  I also couldn't pass this frame up for the price I got it for.  Some of the parts I had lying around like the wheel set, and the forks originally came off of my Macfearsome phase 2.  The forks had some scratches that the mongoose sticker covered up.  I wanted something different for this build so I went with a few profile anodized aqua parts to accent the other black and silver parts on the bike.
After cleaning up the frame I decided to use some NOS mongoose stickers I had lying around.  I mentioned earlier that some of the Staats stickers were missing so the Bottom tube mongoose sticker covered up and protected a couple of scratches there from rusting.
(The mongoose may also be a theft deterant, if someone thinks it's a walmart bike)
And since I received the frame on halloween day I thought it would be appropriate for a Staats frame to masquerade as a Mongoose, and as you can see from my collection I like quality mongoose bikes, I've always loved Maurice the mongoose mascot ever since I was a kid. ( I hope I haven't offended anyone)  I then clear coated the entire frame.
Note a top tube pad keeps the brake cable from rattling against the frame while riding on the track.  This bike is awsome!

Hi, thanks, I like it too. It's got a pearl to it that in certain light, it turns into a brownish purple.

I agree, sweet color combo.  The look of that bike says "race me" and while I get your idea of building a wolf in sheep's clothing, I doubt that the Mongoose stickers could really be enough of a theft deterrant considering the rest of the bike's appearance.  So don't leave this bike unlocked outside the 7-11, It will be gone when you get back with your Slurpee!

Re: 2008 Staats Pro XXL

Your right.  Better safe than sorry.  If I'm riding my bikes around the nieghborhood I never leave them unattended.  I'll mostly do sprints in my backyard or race them at the track.  Thanks for your advise and props.
