1983 Sling Shot Pro
1983 Sling Shot Pro
ONE of SEVEN ORIGINAL SlingShot Bikes Built. Only 7 Square frame bikes were built, before switching to round tubing.
Bike was truly a "barn find" rear stays needed to be replaced
someone really botched a reweld and had gobs of weld that could not be fixed.
Found Cro-Mo tubing and rebuilt rear section.
Bike was originally yellow, but I have a yellow SS and Black is my favorite color for Cars and Bikes.
Features Polished Pro Class Rims
Son-Lite Hubs & Comp III tires
Webco Fork
Profile Cranks with Crupi Pedals
NOS Black Shotgun II Seat, Shimano DX Post & Hutch Clamp
Polished DK Stem with CW Pro Bars with Ame'Grips
Dia-Compe MX1000 Brake & Tech III Lever.
Haro Tech Plate with Haro #7
Hope you like what I have built.

How dumb was I? I never thought to document how bad this puppy was. Many times since I wished I had taken pictures of before.

Re: 1983 Sling Shot Pro
Great bike dad! I love the way the Webco forks look with the square tubing; and the wheel set is one of my favorites. (I still had mine first!)

Re: 1983 Sling Shot Pro
Thanks Brian and everyone that commented. It was a fun build and I like everything I did with it, but my son's is definately a better attention grabber. I hope we do not part with either of them. They truly are special bikes.

Re: 1983 Sling Shot Pro
I have Original Factory Decals correct for the time period, that I had reproduced in High Quality 3M product. Originals are not for sale, but contact me for reproductions at cbell715@att.net. Have seen some decals on e-bay lately, but they are not correct for the BMX Frames.

Re: 1983 Sling Shot Pro
I have this frame, my dad bought it from Brent Walk(84-85), it's a cool ride.I did two races then casual riding for 2-3 years and it's been stored ever since. Besides a few scratches it's completely untouched. Still have the original decals, front GBC sticker is scratched a little.

Re: 1983 Sling Shot Pro
Didn't know about these until I was looking through your collection of bikes!! The other ones are cool but this one gets the "Fave" vote for being a great build of one of the original, magnificent seven!

Check out my 1983 VDC-built Trident, 1983 Kuwi Laserlite, 2010 GT Ultrabox 2, 2011 Crupi race rig and prototype Quamen, plus the all things Crupi & old school scene in Japan threads. Always interested in buying used, mid-school race plates and pads - UGP, Knucklebone, Lizard Skins, Odyssey and Pryme to name but a few!!
