Re: My 83' Predator Build

Good to see the old Predator getting some attention.  I built two of my nephews 83 Predators last year.  Nephew number 3 gets his next year.

Don't put a Dominator seat on there.  mad
That bike is screaming for a red Viscout Aero.

Re: My 83' Predator Build

xact Same as my old one - what a pain getting rid of the gusset rust.  sold the frame fork, but kept all the other parts and used them for my "retro" style robinson pro.

Those femco rims are bomber ... I wish I had another pair for my murray x20.

I used a pressure washer to strip the "ano" paint from the hubs and rims. The rear rim is ano but the front and hubs is like a paint that was chipping off.

Great job ..looks goooood!!

Re: My 83' Predator Build

Thanks.  My nephews  rode them all Summer.  I have to build another one for their younger brother.  I think I'll go with a yellow theme on that one.

Re: My 83' Predator Build

As for Rini's, there have been many opinions on her and ordering through that site. I ordered there for the first time a week or two ago. I ordered Monday, it shipped Friday. I ordered Monday because I was trying to get the part before the following weekend, and I only live the next state over. I got it the following Monday. Believe me I was happy to get the part, a Peregrine axle for my wheel, but it seems there are businesses that keep going because of what they sell vs how they sell it. If this bicycle shop is part time, I can understand making a trip to the post office after getting all your orders together, but it's the rest of the stuff thrown in with it where I roll my eyes. She turns the tables on buyers blaming them for mistakes they couldn't have possibly made. It gets particularly bad when you try to straighten stuff out over the phone. But, you will get your stuff and it's great to know you have a source for them this long after they were made.

Re: My 83' Predator Build

^^^yea i noticed what you are saying while researching Rini's(i did not know what rini's was). It was like hit or miss, some people got their stuff with no problems while others did. So far so good for me, they corrected the order from two pads sets to one, then then they sent an updated balance, shipping was cheaper. Then i paid for it yesterday and then recieved and email today stating they sent it out. Now i just have to wait and see untill it gets here. The hunt for pads is over!!! hopefully.....cool

That is cool!  I just started working on my 83 Pred.  I need some stickers in the black and yellowish green style.  Where did you pick your up at?

Nope, ano is OG. Has a few nicks, but still nice so i left it alone. Just cleaned it up with soap and water.

pretty sure its candy paint and not ano. SR stuff is famous for not anodizing stuff.

those hubs are KK hubs... its a crown llooking thing with KK inside it.
cheap hubs but correct for the bike. later models (or higher up models)
used sunshine hubs with alloy araya rims.

nice build... its coming along nicely.
ive got an 83 predator as well but
its a team model i think... no gusset.

did the competitions have the gusset or not in 1983 ?

ANOTHER month has gone by and still nothing!!!!!!!!roll

This is what happens when you have another build going on, plus only having few extra $$$ doesn't help either. haha

I hate this! But it will get finished......one day. lol

Re: My 83' Predator Build

Hey man just want to say thanks for this thread.  I just started looking into fixing up my brothers old bmx.  I knew it was a predator but thats about it.  This thread has pretty much explained everything I needed to know about it.  My serial number is G0982 also and 2772271.  So it looks like it was made a little after yours.  Thanks again
