Thanks for the compliments guys.

Gary, You came close to owning this one I think. I won the frame, fork and some junk wheels about 5 years ago on ebay and you were the second high bidder and my winning bid was like 5 bucks below my maximum bid.smile I have been collecting parts for it ever since and just finished it about six months ago. Finding the black Campy BMX pedals in mint condition took me that long.

About the tires. I wanted this build to be a true 1981 era correct build and there were no skinwall tires in 24" available until the summer of '82. Almost a year after the first 24 cruisers started coming out. I had and still have probably one of the first 24" GT cruisers which was built in June of '81 and I vividly remember waiting forever for 24" Comp III's to come out.

The tires that are on the RRS build are what we all used before skinwalls came out. Cheng Shin C-90's which were made for Schwinn "Middleweight" 24" granny type bikes BITD. They were pretty much the only choice for 24" tires in the early days. I do have a used set of early yellow label Comp III's for the bike but like I said I really wanted to do this 1981 correct.

Re: 1981 RRS Racing 24

very inspiring. All your bikes look so simple sleek and fun to ride.

Feeling Bossy. Now how about a beat national pro or whitebear cruiser or panda 26 pro-am raider for a new restore project.

Re: 1981 RRS Racing 24

Scott, I have to say that is the most stunning RRS 24 I have seen. So much attention to detail. Is the black two piece clamp going on that?

Thanks Mike,

No, I think the black 2 pc. clamp will go on a blue '79 Robinson I just bought. It needs a little help (okay...ALOT of help) but I'm going to try to fix it and still salvage the original finish. Should be alot of fun:P
