made a homemade number plate. ever make your own? lets see em

I made this one for my kid last night.  He has expert size fly bars I wanted one that fit his bars better than what we could find for sale.  Thin clear acrylic bandsaw the belt/disc sander air brush and some rc car paint and Bobs your uncle.  I think it came out nice the kid asked me where i bought so that was a huge compliment for me.  Cost me 2 bucks

Looks Great !!
I was going to go with your exact same shape, but ended up throwing in a little more curve.

No numbers wanted, just to display brands used .....   here you go.  big_smile

When I started racing in 1985 I used a black magic marker and a white paper plate and held it on with black elctrical tape.  The paper was a real weight saver over the Haro plastic.  lol

Re: made a homemade number plate. ever make your own? lets see em

and when I was young ....dad said we couldnt afford all that stuff racing ...I made my first plate from one of his five gallon buckets, then rolled his work trailer over it overnight to flatten it out. Wish I had a pic.  Swept and cleaned dads shop for 5.00 , found a used Bell moto3 at the local pawn for 3.00, a socco jersey at a thrift store for 2.00, THAT GOT IT ALL STARTED FOR ME lol smile

I keep the tradition goin....makin my own plates

Created in Adobe Illustrator. Printed on adhesive vinyl by a local sign shop and applied to thin plastic.

Re: made a homemade number plate. ever make your own? lets see em

I'm working on a UGP-style plate for my '98 Torker. Not putting on the UGP name, just using the general shape and plate skin. This will get stickered-up with 90's propaganda and some numbers. Not sure what so I'm scrounging the museum and looking at everyones plates for inspiration. This is just a quick test fit with zip ties...

Re: made a homemade number plate. ever make your own? lets see em

Bending the plastic is fairly easy if you have a heat gun, a broom handle, and a pair of gloves.

Heat one of the "ears" of the plastic until it gets soft and plyable (but not too hot that it bubbles and melts the plastic) and press the ear over a section of the broom handle so that you get a good bend in the plastic. Hold it for about 15 seconds until it cools down. Repeat with the other "ear".  It's that simple. smile

Stopped by a motorcycle accessory store today and picked up a few numbers...
