1996 Quamen Clad G1

this is a complete time capsule - and exactly what you would of rode flatland on in 1996 if you happen to have had a ton of money.

this bike was a recent score - me and a buddy drove pretty far away to get it for me.   the guy who sold it to me was realley cool tho - and he is now riding flatland again after a long break from it.   he got a new school bike and after getting used to it - decided to let go of his og quamen g1 / aka the nada
this bike is in imaculate condition.   it was custom painted the flip flop colors before ever being assembled,   and you can still see the factory outline of grey paint as he carefully taped off the stickers wich are factory origonal to the bike.

fork was changed to odyssey minimal -
pegs are primo tube steaks - measure 2"by 5"
redline flight cranks - graveyard sprocket
primo seat
camacura stem / front hub / rims / rear hub is a nanki freecoaster.
basic whammy bars 1" with 7/8" section by the grips / levers

the bike is super dialed.  no clanky anything.  you can do the drop test with it and she is basicly silent. -  the handling of it is amazing.   the bike does have some weight,  but it wears it well and does not feel overly heavy for its girth.

this has been a realley amazing bike for me.   im almost afraid to mess it up,  but I do have to take it out for a ride once a month or so to practice doing decades on it and what not.

is this frame really 1996?I was really active that year and don't recall seeing these until early 98 or so,wow...most flat frames up to 96 were still one inch.they are sturdy indeed,I rode one for a while in 2003,pretty cool...

Re: 1996 Quamen Clad G1

I have to agree with Polanco here, although the bike is AMAZINGLY COOL!

But.. in 1996 you'd probably ride a Big Daddy, Morales, Double Dynamite/MC, Sabbath, 1st gen Premium Lagger, Stout Boy, STH etc etc but like Polanco, i too can't remember seeing Quamens this ealry. I would say late 1997 to early 1998 would be more realistic.

Whatever, the bike rocks! The paintjob i freaking magic!! You did very good job on this build. Super clean. You should be proud.

Re: 1996 Quamen Clad G1

yep, timo is on the same wavelenght here, and yes,the bike is a dream, its not that heavy, all depends on how u set it up...to me this was the best quamen ever.another thing most of us forget is that most peoiple could not afford to keep up with the new parts,in fact, most people I rode with in 96 rode modified 87-88 pfts, slammers, pro compes, some standards, some moraleses, and a few big daddies.peppered with  a LOT of OS parts, power series cranks, mallet stems, super pros, shimano and mks pedals, tons of odi mushrooms(the remaining ones matt didnt buy, lol),a ton of tioga and old gt seats,nippons,etc..it was actually pretty rare ti see an all era correct bike back then, everyone was simply either broke,or too used to what they rode, except of course, sponsored pros, and even those used their share of old parts, dmc had a mallet stem in green in 96,and andrew faris had a red one on his basic in early 97,I used to dig that, and that is gone by far these days, most kids would nt dare ride with something that looks even slightly different,at least street riders, most would be shot deat before putting on 48's,a brake,or chrome cranks ,to name something irrelevant.ahh,..youth...smilesmile
