1980 Mongoose Moosegoose

Red candy 1980 Moosegoose. I've been waiting a long time to get my hands on one of these!

I bought this great Moosegoose from MongooseNick. He threw in the suede Mongoose seat too! Thanks! This Moosegoose is in excellent shape for a survivor. Almost all original Mongoose stamped parts. Only the Race Inc seatpost is not original, but I think it goes really well with the rest of the bike. Notice the five-speed freewheel and shifter. You don't see that very often. This bike is very well balanced, and I'll be pulling block-long wheelies in no time!

Re: 1980 Mongoose Moosegoose

The Moose frame shape takes a bit to get used to, but it really works for me (I'm 6'2").

The 5 speed is really useful. I cruise around in thrid gear and slam it into 5th if I want to fly. The 5 speed is also useful for selecting the right ratio for pulling wheelies easily. The low gears are also easier on my knees - I'm getting old - almost 39!

I'd like to increase the size of the front gear to 48 teeth to make the bike even faster!

Sweet moose.
I really like the 5sp idea for that bike.
Did those come as a stock option?

What a beautiful Moose.  So hard to find these frame sets w/ the original candy finish intact.  One incredible survivor.  The gear set up is awesome.  Bike is perfect in my book!

Rode the Moose yesterday. One of my favorite bikes. Need to tune up the 5-speed. Not shifting real well. Warm weather = bike maintenance time. smile
