1984 Diamond Back Super Streak

owner : ramachandran
from : malaysia
look out for my robinson, photos coming soon!

I NO LONGER OWN THIS BIKE, SOLD TO FARID
Diamond back super streak cromoly frame and chromoly fork. diamond back formula one bars, fluted seat post, diamond back 5 gold seat, tange grips, sugino 3 piece solid cromo cranks, suntour xc-2 pedals, izumi chain, fake mx 1000 brakes front and rear, generic old school taiwanese bmx padset, directional ogk wheels, diamond back seat clamp,sr stem, suntour freewheel. i still have the original araya 20X1.5" chrome alloy wheels, but i am keeping them as the mags looks much more old school, like bmx bandits.using cheap indonesian tyre at the back and NOS gt tyre in the front. the bike handles great because of the headtube angle, but the seat tube angle is annoyingly laidback, making 360s difficult. also with my size 10 foot, the front wheel would contact my foot if i were to steer with my foot level. other than that its very nice to ride.

Re: 1984 Diamond Back Super Streak

Wow... didn't realize DB & Robinson even existed in this part of the world ! I thought most of the bikes that ever got imported here back then were only KUWAHARA, SKYWAY, RL...  Where did you get them from ? Nice to find a fellow country man here & btw which part of Malaysia are you from ?

Re: 1984 Diamond Back Super Streak

hi guys, hot shot, diamond backs were imported by sum ming back in the 80's they were quite common actually. the robinson i bought from ebay, it was cheap compared to other old school bikes,i submitted it last week but its still not on this page.i am from klang, selangor, near port klang.i always loved 80's bikes or 80's style bikes, and i only like race bmx bikes, not freestyle, even though i can do a few old school freestyle tricks. There were not many skyways in malaysia actually.my phone is 017-3696085.
realfox, nice to meet you.just to warn you, there are a few scrathces on the downtube and some knocking marks on the headtube from the previous owner.i might sell this bike, but only if i can manage to get another early 80's ride, like a giant with x-brace gussets, and if i do sell it, i will be selling with the original araya 20x 1.5" wheels which has the db sitkcers on them.

Re: 1984 Diamond Back Super Streak

i had a complete db f1 from 1996 until 2002, i loved that bike its so damn light, in the 80's it was my dream bike.in 2002 my friend borrowed my bike and crashed it into a truck, destryoing the frame.i have deep regrets about that incident, because i planned to keep it forever. also i dont like to jog, the only form of exercise i enjoy is riding my bike, either go mountain biking with my bmx or doing jumps or doing OS tricks.so in 2004 i bought a db viper frame from ebay, i thought it was a f1 frame, but it wanst, you could feel the weight difference.i rode this bike for 2 years until i decided to keep it for historical purposes,i then bought the robinson pro fram and fork also from ebay.this bike is great, because it has an xl frame, my feet doesnt touch myfront wheel anymore, also the rear seat tube isnt so angled like the db, its more comfortable to ride the robinson considering my 5' 10" height.oy yeah i have ben into bmx since 87 and i went through many cheap imitations before landing the 2nd hand db f1 in 96.from katoras to fake shimanos, fake kuwaharas and fake haro masters,i have tried them all and broke them all.

Re: 1984 Diamond Back Super Streak

You know the old days of BMX just rocked with sweet bikes like yours. Congrats. I almost went to a BMX track in nearby Singapore when I was in the Navy but my GF there was just to pretty for me to drag myself away from her.
What are Malaysia BMX tracks like? Any pics?

Re: 1984 Diamond Back Super Streak

actually there arent any real bmx tracks in malaysia, there was a few in the 80's and then they either got torn down or abandoned, you see, racing went out and freestyle was in. today there is a race track in dmansara, but i dont like it cause its cement, very dangerous. there is a mountanbike track in shah alam, but you can ride your bmx there, your girlfriend must be a blonde eh? if you come to malaysia, i can bring you around.

Re: 1984 Diamond Back Super Streak

Naw she was Malaysian/Chineese mix if I remember right. Prettiest girl I had ever dated at that point and to this day never dated prettier. Her name was Shaimah.

Cement would be bad lol. We used to race on indoor tracks with wooden jumps. Maybe you could talk someone into letting you do that. If outdoor, the track can be dirt with some dirt jumps you cover during the rainy season. Then add a couple wooden jumps you can secure indoor thru all the wet months.

Re: 1984 Diamond Back Super Streak

I dont believe it is a Super Streak. I recently picked up a Super Streak with original decals. The Super Streak doesn;t have the chaingaurd tabs. That is probably a Viper. Check http://www.os-db.net/ for more info.
