Re: 1989 Bully Bashguard

The serial on these is stamped into the top of the BB... around the edge of one side... not across the bottom like a normal serial number (for obvious reasons). Many times the paint has filled it in... I found one when I stripped it... but couldn't really see it before.

It could also not be there like you mentioned, the Bully quality assurance team was asleep most of the time.

Welcome to the Bully Club!

Dig out your bashguard bikes and let me know! I'm looking for a '91 Mongoose Hooligan, Dyno Slammer 2, '95 Haro Basher, . I'll consider the others too for the right price!

Re: 1989 Bully Bashguard

Welcome to the Bully Family!!

Cool frame, but I would guess it's more of a 90-91 owing to the fact it has a regular seat clamp, rather than the original 'Bully Vice'.

It's nice to see more and more interest in the brand and more bikes surfacing all the time.

Looking fwd to seeing it built up.!

Re: 1989 Bully Bashguard

Haha!

The Bully Vice was no more than a built in seat clamp with a quick-release lever, there are some examples in the museum, like BullyBoy's bike: http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/bully/2445

Earlier Bashguard frames had the Vice and IMO are slightly more valuable as a collector's piece.

Yeah. The Bully guard was nylon though...
There was Black/Blue, Black/ Red, Black/White (never seen one other than in the ads though) and Black/Olive.

pics will help, but they were good frames. Sounds like you may have a Bully 2....
People rode them really hard and there are many horror stories of cracks and breaks, I wouldn't be too worried about that unless you plan on riding it on jumps or some heavy street

Re: 1989 Bully Bashguard

I had one of these bitd.  Loved the ride, but ended up sending it back after I cracked it a couple of months later.  It was definately a cool ride until the dropout cracked.  I would love to have one of these again.
