1988 Skyway 280TA

Serial: T805  May 1988

The 1st of Skyway's Complete race Bikes....

Skyway produced 2 complete Race Bikes in 87 - 89... The 280 TA & the 300 TA.... Most noteable difference between them was the U-Brakes mounted to the 300...
I was fortunate enough to race one of these for 18months & have some good solid memories on it....

Specs -

F&F - 280 TA
Stem n Bars - DK & Auburn Bars (both NOS).
Headset - New Polished GT Epoch.
Wheels - Suzue Sealed Low Flange - Chrome Plated. OG 280 Spec.
Tires - Tioga Comp IIIs (Rainbow's).
Cranks - Profile Unstamped 4th Gens.
Chainwheel - Genuine 4th Gen Profile w/sugino 44T.
Pedals - SR Double Cage (NOS).
Chain - Izumi (NOS).
Seat n Clamp - Kashimax w/2pce Dia Compe Clamp (Both NOS).
Grips - Tange NEW

i have seen magazine photos of skyway cranks , but never on a bike

Guilty, Yep!

I love that shot, I wanted to be the 1st to do it, we all have nice collections & take pride in them but I wanted this simply for something different!

I have a guy selling what I believe is a Skyway 280TA.  He gave me a serial number that is on the rear dropout of the bike.  It is (1)803xxxx.  I can't tell if the first number is a 1 or something else.  Do you have any idea if this sounds correct?

How do these ride compared to a TA?
