Re: Broken frames

1986 or 87 Diamond Back Hot Streak - cracked the down tube right behind the head tube. A few years later I broke the bars too.

1988 GT Pro Performer - Not so much a break, but I managed to grind a hole through half of the drive side chainstay. I have no clue how I didn't kill the chain first.

Assorted 86-87 GT Performers - cracked the seat mast just below the top tube on several of these.

some chrome 80s Mongoose race bike - cracked the top of the seat mast completely off. Dropped my post in another inch or two, put a hinged clamp below the top tube and kept riding. Eventually cracked the entire top half of the seat mast as well as part of the top tube.

Hutch Pro something (probably a raider, doubt I had a racer from trades with my friends) - cracked the down tube by the headtube, brake bridge completely snapped off while braking.

Hutch Trick Star - virtually everywhere. I was so thrilled to have that frame, I rode it long after it began cracking. I only weighed 175 back then, I figured it wouldn't actually snap on me. When it eventually got stolen, there was a crack behind the head tube, one on the seat mast, one frame stander was completely smashed in and I'd cracked both chainstays where they meet the BB, but it still held together and rode.

Do I owe you feedback? Please remind me via PM and I'll take care of it.

Re: Broken frames

A 1980 Schwinn scrambler(friends) where the down tube meets the head tube. Faulty weld as it was rusted under the paint !!! They replaced it with a black Giant made Scrambler frame. I was pissed as the predator frame was an exact match. And the giant frame I felt was ugly. My friend was happy cause it was a black frame.hmm

Re: Broken frames

This FA FreeFlight has been cracked over 20 years. Just something else that needs to be repaired on it.

Re: Broken frames

I cracked a 1985 GHP frame where the bottom tube meets the headtube...countless forks and a Huffy or AMC (not sure) Chopper when I was 10...I learned the hard way that Choppers are not meant to jump-Broke the frame in half at the headtube...lol. Good times.

Re: Broken frames

A Huffy pro thunder, Race Inc, and sorry guys but a Hutch Wind Styler. Oh, I also broke my Murray ten speed and bent my sisters ten speed (seat touching the handlebars) jumping huge jumps at the drained fishing hatcheries on the same day. The good old day!

Re: Broken frames

3 eastern frames, two at the seat tube/ top tube weld, one at the top tube and head tube. The last one looks re-weld able but idk if it's worth it since it's an eastern lol I've bent mongoose forks and snapped mongoose bars, and my best friend once completely severed all five arms of an alloy mag (I think a Lester) in one jump- everyone who witnessed it was in such disbelief that all we could do was cheer for him, I'm pretty sure he went home and hung the pieces up on his wall lol can't believe he didn't die from that

Re: Broken frames

Oh and I snapped an eastern fork steerer tube clean off at the top of the headset. The only thing that saved me was my banned stash cap which went deeper than the crack, preventing me from flying away with my bars and stem
